Default What Rims do you have?

I'm looking to upgrade my rims and keep going back and forth between 18" and 19". My 17s that I have on right now just look way too small for the car.. price isn't a deciding factor because the rims that I'm looking at are only a $40 difference between the 18" and 19"..

I like the way the 19s look and fill out the car wheel wells, but hope that the ride doesn't suffer drastically. 18s don't look horribly small (like the 17s) but for spending $1900, one inch of a difference doesn't seem enough..

What are your opinions? What do a majority of people have and what do you think about them?

Thanks guys!

Please browse through the old threads in this forum from the past 3 years. It is loaded with pictures of 18s, 19s, 20s. If you have questions, most people are happy to respond to private messages. It is not necessary to start a new thread.

I would say the majority of people have Volk rims, they are high quality and look great.

Enjoy the forums

From Experience, Go with 19's

If you go with 18's there may be a chance you might regret it later. This always happens to me.

Make sure to get the wheel you want and the size you want. In a long run, that will save you more money. If you are just content with a particular wheel, you may sell them later a big loss so make sure to get it right the first time.

I use to have 18" SSR GT3 on my Z Roadster and in begining, I was happy with them but after a while, wheels seemed smaller so I went with 19" Volk SF Challenge. As for ride difference, there isn't much. The main thing is what kinda tires are you going to use. Stiff sidewall tires like Bridgestone S-03 will make your ride firm but tires tires like Toyo T1-R will make sure ride little softer due to thinner sidewall on Toyo's.

Also, same thing happened with my SC430. At first, I went with 19's which i was fine with but after a while, wheels looked little small for the car so I end up getting 20's.

Just my thought.

I have been checking previous threads and have definitely taken a long look at all the different pictures on the gallery.. but they don't really tell you much about the ride. What I was hoping for was comments from people who have upgraded their 18s to 19s and what they thought about the ride.. whether they regretted it or not. But thanks for the help guys!

And thanks ssk0771! That definitely did help! I'll let you guys know what I decided and post pictures after I get them..

I chose 18s cuz i like the wider tire selection. Also, the difference to me is minimal w/ proper lowering hardware.

No noticeable difference in ride going from stock 18s to 19s with hotchkis springs.

Any tires that you put on the Z should have stiff sidewalls. Therefore the ride shouldn't change too much going up or down an inch.

Originally i was going to order 18's, but at the last minute, i changed to 19's. To me, 18's look too small and 20's are too big.

Since the picture was taken, the car has been lowered on Hotchkis springs.
