Well, realized today that after 8k miles, my tires are almost done for. (I went to a lot and tried to 'drift' a few times.. only for about 30 minutes but I guess that wasnt a good choice)

So, now I'm in the market for tires. And I figured, hell, while I'm at it, wheels (I want to go wider).
Here is my issue: I really don't want to spend much money on my wheels. So, don't tell me to get Volks. Don't tell me I should put a good pair of shoes on my 350z. I know, I would, but I can't.
So. My budget: I'll say $800-1000 for tires (only if they are VERY good) and $1000-1250 for wheels. And I would be happy as hell if I could keep it around 1k. My only thing is I don't want wheels any heavier than stock ('06 enthusiast).

I'm thinking I want to go somewhere around 275 rear and 245 front. And I want to stay 18". Oh, and the last thing is - I want very good dry traction, and pretty good wet traction. My stock '06 tires suck in the rain.
And I'm not tracking, this is for street use and maybe a few trips to the drag strip.

So.. ideas? Anyone? I realize this is big question, but I'm desperate. The guy at the tire place I visited today laughed when he looked at my rear tires.

Wheel selection is personal. I could suggest that SSR wheels at the TireRack meet your criteria, but you may not like them (or any other suggestions).

 

Hmm. how about this - Could I fit 245 front, 275 back on the stock '06 enthusiast wheels? I found a thread where someone said they had, but I need to make sure.
If it'll fit without crazy buldging, then I don't care so much about the wheels. I just need tires.

Isn't the grip improvement from 225/245 -> 245/275 quite a bit?
Would it decrease or increase acceleration + 1/4 times?

Also, my friend who has an STI, and also needs new tires, is going to get Yokohama Advan Neova's (I think those are the ones), and he says that the Goodyear GSD3's and Toyo T1-S's (or are the newer ones T1-R's?) are not as good.. true? Would it be worth spending the extra money to get those?

 

a 275 on OE 17" will buldge (I've seen it in person)...just depends on if you like the look.
