Default Infiniti TPMS VS Nissan TPMS

Hey guys,

I just installed some brand new G35 Rays 19s w/TPMS on my SS last week.

However, the TPMS isn't picking up the signal.

Correct me if I'm wrong , but the TPMS from Infinit is compatible with my Z isn't it?

How simple is it to recalibrate/reflash my sensors? Is it as easy as a swipe of a "wand" like I've been hearing?

Reason I ask, I went to the dealer today to get an oil change and have them recalibrate the TPMS.

I was told that everything was done and good - and I had expected it to be. WRONG! Stupid me left the place without checking

The TPMS was still reading the same "F --:-- ; R --:--"!!!

I'm gonna go back there tomorrow to have it done for sure!

I think you have to drive them for a few miles, not sure though? Have you got it up to speed for a few miles? I believe they are the same sensors as Nissan, don't quote me though. How about take it to an Infinity dealer, they are much more friendlier!

The Infinity sensors are the same as the Nissan ones. The problem is that they aren't the same sensors that were in your car. Each sensor has a unique ID than must be registered to the computer in the car. Your computer is still looking for the old sensors. Take the car to a dealer, pay him a few $$$ and they will re-register the new sensors to your car.

Yep, that's what I had to do to mine when I put my Volks on. The dealer charged me $25.

Ok I'll go ahead and do that.

How exactly would they re-register the new sensors to my car?
I feel like I have to explain to them how to do it

I've already driven the car more than 30 miles since the service...still nothing. I even left my car on in hopes I had to wait for the system to reset.

I'm convinced they did nothing to address the issue.

See, the sad thing is that I asked for them to do and they had told me it WAS DONE!

Thanks for your help.

The sensors should be the same. You should take your car down to the dealer and have them reset the TPMS and it should pick up the signal.

Resetting the TPS involves the use of the Nissan CONSULT unit. They plug in under your dash and then use a handheld unit to help reset the ECU and "read" the new TPS units. As far as I know, there is no difference between the Infiniti and Nissan TPS units. It helps if the CONSULT system is in the hands of an experienced tech- shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I went back to the dealer today and it was DONE stupid fast

I barely sipped my cup of coffee from the lounge and they already had my keys in hand for me!

A+++ for Hanlees Hilltop Nissan! My service advisor Said (Sa-eed) is the MAN!

I strongly recommend Hanlees and him!

Thanks!

Is it really that cheap to recalibrate the TPS?

I drive an '05 Infiniti G35 coupe. I originally bought it w/ the OEM 17 inch wheels. About a year later I upgraded to the OEM 18s after finding a good price online. I was told I had to recalibrate the TPS but when I asked the dealership how much they charged, they told me it was going to be 60 dollars a wheel. I researched other places and I read that most dealerships charge around this price.

So now I am just driving with them "off" since I didn't want to spend nearly 250 for something that I don't use that much. I will eventually recalibrate them when I have some extra money floating around, but how did you guys find it for so cheap?

I'll go do it now! Thanks.

$60 per wheel is a ripoff. I've seen posts where people have paid $50 to $60 to have them done, not that much per wheel.

Some dealers are friendly and will do it for a minimal charge or even free. Others are either clueless to how simple it is and use the shop rate to quote you a price or see it as an opportunity to make some easy money and charge whatever they can get.

Try another dealership or bite the bullet and pay them the going rate.
