Default Would Stern wheels get all bent up?

I was thinking of grabbing a set of 18" Stern ST-1 Hyperblack, but someone mentioned that they get bent up pretty quickly. Is this true? The car is used mostly for street driving, minimal potholes.

any wheel will get bent, provided you hit the right pothole. Just get whatever you like and becareful driving around.

Are they more likely to bend or something?

Default Stern ST2's

Just so you know I bought the Stern ST2's from the same company you pictured and everything was perfect. I received my wheels and tires in 3 days. Great shop to do business with. Oh yeah, I have had no problems with them bending either.

Don't know if you would be interested but I just ran across this post.

Certainly sounds like a reliable source to me.

Not shelling out the extra cash for 19's, though what you do have there is a pretty sweet deal

Next question: would these be alright for the winter (with Blizzaks on)? I used my 18" stock tires last winter, and there was absolutely no damage. On the other hand, they're painted, and these ones are polished. Is it safe to use them in the winter, or will they get corroded or something? I am not using steelies!!

Not recommended. Those are show wheels. Which risk damage from snow, ice and salt.

Wait, it's a piece of steel... it either withstands salt and cold or it doesn't, right? It can't do it half the time! So which one is it? Someone on here once said that you can put these wheels in a bag of salt for 6mo and nothing'll happen.

the ice and salt will corrode the coating on the wheels, hence damaging them.

Is it because of the hyperblack coating? Because last winter, i drove on my OEM 18's and they're perfectly fine now.

You've been warned.

Here's the scenario after this winter:

"Hey everyone my Stern's polish seems to be dull and I would like to know how I can get them to look new again? Argggh I thought they would be fine cause my stock wheels seemed ok during the winter. Question how much you think it's gonna cost?"

the paint and clear on your stock wheels is almost the same as your cars body. Where as the aftermarket wheels are the bare metal with a thin layer of clearcoat. The new stern wheels arent as quality built as the old ones were since techincally stern went out of business a while back, someone just bought the name and used inexpensive wheels.

Understood. I'm gonna pass on the polished / hyperblack wheels then. I want wheels i can use year-round. Would i be alright with PAINTED Sterns? The silver or black ones?

i wouldn't do it, i had a set of 5 zigens hyper black on my accord it saw 2 days of winter and the clear coat came off, i dont know how you would get around in toronto in a cast wheel i can almost promise you that it will bend or crack, it happened in my accord my rim cracked and they were 5 zigens =(
i was looking at those rims then i just bought the g35 rays with spacers they look simliar but are forged and can take toronto potholes.
