Default Buying rims/tires on tirerack have question... need help

okay so im going to buy Motegi Track touge rims

those are the same rims im gettin for mine. though im going with 245/40/18 and 285/35/18 and tire rack isnt the cheapest place to get them. try going to http://www.wheelsfortuners.com

i think it would be like $797 shipped way cheaper than tirerack. im gonna get mine with the toyo proxes t1r's too. hopefully it will look nice.

The TireRack does a good job with recommended offsets. But as far as tire sizes, I haven't the faintest idea how they arrive at such weird sizes.

Seems like a lot of wheel and tire sites are conservative as far as tire to rim size. Ive seen some sites that reccomend a 225 tire on a 9.5". I went with Tire Racks reccomendation on tires. They did good on the rear I went with 18x10.5 with a 275/40 but the front I went with 18x9 and the 225/45 and it is stretched. Its not terrible but the rim protecter isnt doing much. Next time I get tires Ill go with 245 in front.

With a configuration of 245/40/18f and 275/40/18r, is that going to set the TCS off all the time, or is that OK? Sorry, I'm a noob.

The reason the tire rack knows the offsets and sizes is because they do the research...they actually have all of the most high tech equipment to measure out fitments and what not. The sizes are actually a pretty exact science...the Z is set up to have a rear tire that is about an inch or so give or take taller than the front tire. If you go with a 285/35R18 then it's not quite the right fitment, plus with a 245, the correct and most common stagger is 275 rear and with a 285 rear, you want 255's in the front. Listen to what the Tire Rack has to say, they know what they are talking about. Plus, if something is damaged, Tire Rack will take it right back unlike some of the horror stories I've read on here where companies ignored customer complaints and avoided problems...and why does everyone want cheap tires, you're car works better with good tires. You get what you pay for.
