Default Cheap Descent Rims?

Hi everyone, I know this is going to be a flamefest but I am currently in the market for some alternate rims to my stock 17's.

I understand that you get what you pay for etc, but I dont see a purpose to buying 2,5k rims for my car when..

a) my car is driven all year long in most weather conditions and the roads here suck.

b) if i get expensive wheels ill be angry as hell if i scratch them or they get vandalized

c) if i get expensive wheels they will be the most expensive item on my car.

Plus I dont have the money to spend alot on wheels.

So the most I want to spend is about 1k on rims alone. Yes the budget sucks. The only rims I can think of that match this is the Rotas by Subydude and Ruff Racing 278's.

Is there anything else that I can look at? I heard pretty good reviews on the Rotas and I know a few people have the Ruff Racing rims and are more than happy with them. I just want to know what else is there thats descent quality and faily cheap.

Thank everyone.

P.S. 18 inch wheels only. Maybe a 19 if it is also available in 18. Thanks again

I know what you're talking about...I've been drooling over the Nismo wheels for a couple of years now, but since the Z is my daily driver and I have other hobbies to fund as well, I went with cheap wheels. I have ASAs on my car now, and I use to have Kazeras. I like the Rotas too, but since my hubby use to have a STi, I couldn't bring myself to put Suby wheels on the Z.

Yea if i was rich i would prob get nicer wheels. But Im a college kid with no job right now and def cannot buy really really nice rims.

Also arent the wheels subydude sells basically replicas of nismo wheels? I didnt think they were suby wheels.

Anyways I looked at asa, and kazera and dont really want to go that path... But thanks for the suggestion!

For $1,000/4 you get heavy cast wheels. Just like the OEM wheels.

There may be an alternative. Check clearance sales at TireRack for SSR and Wedsports wheels. eBay may have OEM used Rays wheels.

Rotas aren't just for Subies, but it's a brand that a lot of Subie owners use. And yes, there are some that are Nismo replicas. Just keep researching, you'll find something. There are some decent cheap wheels out there that are lighter than OEM and hold up pretty well.

Another good choice would be Privat wheels. They are good wheels and are pretty inexpensive. Privat is the luxury division of Konig.

If you bump it up to 1500 you are in the range of Axis which has some cool looking wheels. Also TSW makes Thruxton, which is controvertial...but I love them. Those will run you about 1100 for the 19"'s. If it were me and I wanted to stay under a 1000, cant go wrong with Ruff's, or the sportmax's 19's withspacers look pretty tough too...they can be had for lik800 on ebay...good luck man

what can i do with 2 front wheels =P

I went throught the gallery of all the wheels and like those ADR M-Sports. I just do not know where I can get them for the best price.

I am also waiting on a reply from the Subydude about his tire packages. If i were to get Nismo look alikes I would want to go 19 Rears and 18 fronts.. but Rota doesnt make 19's =(

As for the Ruff.. I like them alot too, I know where to get them, just the person still did not respond to my email.

kabs, for NISMO replicas, Kazera has some very good quality ones, and not particularly heavy either.

SERIOUSLY DUDE, look into Work wheels. For some reason, people think they are expensive. For the $$$, about $1500 for 18's, do yourself a favor and get some quality JDM wheels. Look in the vendor classifieds also for some great deals. I got my RGII's from STATUS on the cheaps.

Don't get a cheap wheel. Get a wheel cheap.

Please don't ruin your Z by getting cheap looking wheels... pick up some used rays, or some of the 06Z rims with some spacers... otherwise don't bother. You already drive a nice car, and if you can't afford to do rims right, don't do them at all.
