Default Vibration in the front chasis

My car is vibrating like crazy....I think my Kinetix plenum is rubbing against my front STB which is causing my front chasis to vibrate when accelerating. You could actually hear something is touching the front. So i did a clearance check on the plenum against STB. The passenger end of the brace has plenty of room. The other end had no room to slide a thin card in between the plenum and the brace. I'm going to bring the car back to Zcargarage to have them adjust the brace. I had camber kit installed and dyno tuned today. I think they might have forgotten to adjust the brace or something. So what do you guys think? Could it be the clearance?

Hey Vince...well if you say you can't even slide a thin card on one end, then that's definitely a problem since your engine will torque during acceleration & if it hits the bar, it will transfer any vibration from the engine to your chassis. You can definitely bring it back to ZCG to take a look at but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't even touch your strutbar if it was just a camber arm installation. I think it may have been already loose & the dyno runs caused the bolts to loosen up even more. Mine did that a few times & I simply put a bit of thread lock which seemed to have help prevent it from coming loose again. Before going to the shop, try retightening the bolts on your strutbar & check again for clearance. Also, check your plenum to see if it's bolted down properly as well although I'm pretty sure you would've noticed a leak if it was loose. Good luck bro & keep us posted...

James,
I checked the bolts that attaches the bar to the chasis, its perfectly tight. But the bolts that adjusts the bar are loose. I can even use my fingers to move the bolt.

If the plenum was leaking, wouldn't the car not start or it the engine light would come on? But the plenum did sound a little different after the dyno run though. But i think its the brace thats causing the problem...because it wasn't vibrating before the install.

Hmm? So either your bar is uneven or your plenum is, for it to touch on one side like that. I just saw your other thread about it idling strange so perhaps you might want to double-check your plenum since that can cause your idle to go rough if there was a leak & maybe why it seems to be rubbing on one side. I had a leak on my plenum once & it would idle like crazy like it was going to die.

My car is idling fine because Rob adjusted the AFC. I just have a feeling the bar is uneven. And the clutch feels funny after they took out for a test drive. The car will move when the clutch is engaged i would say 3/4 of the way. There seems to be very little, if any vibration when its at idling. But i could still feel a little because i have a torque dampener.

Thanks James, just worried that there is something wrong with the engine. Just trying to eliminate things that aren't possible. But I think i know where the problem lies. Thanks for your help.

Problem solved. It was the STB that was rubbing against the plenum. Rob adjusted the brace and voila, the vibration was gone. Kudos to Zcargarage and their professionalism. My car ran soooooooo smooth and much much better than before. Kudos to Zcargarage, and they have me pretty much sold. Getting my headers installed there next week. Can't wait for the result as i would Hope to gain at least 10 whp with strup headers. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks again James..
