It is on there so you don't put your back tires on your front hubs (presumably dealer workers are so lame, it's a possibility), take it off and pitch it in the round file.

Are you talking about the bolt that looks to be holding/snugging up the rotors between the lug bolts?

I work at classic nissan in orlando. Its so that johnnys tire rotation shop down the street from us doesnt try to put your rear tires on the front. Just get a 14mm wrench I believe, it might be a 12, and take it off and then mount your new rims on.

Also !!!!!!!!! If u are trying to get ur rotor off and its froze in place with rust or whatever---U can put a longer bolt in there and tighten it down---It acts like a press and pops ur rotor off

No, nothing will happen if you take that bolt out and yes if the rotor is froze to the hub by way of rust because of aging you can use a longer bolt of the same thread pitch to force it off if rapping on the inner part of the rotor with a hammer doesnt persuade it to come loose.

Taking it off will reduce drag (increase 2-3 mpgs) and you'll gain 1-3hp.
