Default My rims polished lips getting stained?

I have noticed some slight discoloration on my rims polished lips? I wash my car about once every week and it seems that it will not go away? Is there a cleaning solution that I could use? Is this from water sitting on the rims?

If it's slightly purple, it's pretty normal for volks. It's more visible in direct sunlight and sometimes you can't see it at all. Many many sets of volks I've seen have a slight purple hue to the lip.

Some people can't stand it and start complaining and stuff, even sent threatening letters to the USA volk distributor, and at least one or two people has sent their volks to get the lips permanently CHROMED (which looks nice) to avoid having this clear coat issue.

Personally, I think it looks hot. I like seeing it there...

DO NOT use any products on your volks, if you would not use it on your car's paint. That is my rule of thumb. Definitely stay away from wheel cleaners which will most likely f--- up the clearcoat.

Lol I'm not going to send threatning letters to volk. I just didn't know if you could get it off or not. Thanks for the info. I guess it's like that now. No problem, I can live with that.

Not sure, dont have volks but for my polished wheels i like to use eagle 1 polish. Works like a charm and gets them gleaming like new.

bingo.

If you have some tar spots or stubborn brake dust cakes on the lip, DON'T use wheel cleaner, use a claybar (with the proper technique).

I know this is an old thread, but don't want to create a new one and add more junk.

So I am one of the guys with a Volks SF Challenge that had his polished lip hazed on because a car wash guy did not listen to me when I said only use the car wash soap to clean the rims and NOT any wheel cleaner. One rip in particular has a this huge milky white haze all over the lip. I realize this means the clear coat is gone and the rim is F'ed, but is there any solution on how to possibly remove some of it or get it off entirely? Thanks!

take it to the people who washed it and have them buy you a new wheel. When I got my tk bumper and got it washed, I told them dont pull up close to the curb and sure enough, cracked part of the bottom. They told me to call my body shop and get a quote.

Its no clean coat, its anodized. . . . so any scratchs or discolouration are not going to go away. You have to actually remove the anodization and get it polished up if you want it to look great again.

I remember watching that video about the 10K dollar car wash, and the guy on there used a type of wheel gel. He said it was safe for high end wheels, because it isn't an acid cleaner. Not sure what kind it was, but maybe try to look into that.
