Default Most Awesome Lug Nuts?

I am looking for a set of lug nuts. Post your favorites. Pics would be awesome.

Should I go extended or short? Open end or closed end?

Does anyone make gunmetal lug nuts?

I run black rays duraluminium. Definately lighter. They're blackish grey. They are available shorty open or long. I'd go shorty or open

Trust Short Closed Lugs from Evasive Motorsports. All 20 of em, less than 1 1/4 lbs... or 24.8 grams per lug.

Kics Project R40 and R26 lugs are getting saturated here. R40 are 40 grams and R26 are 26 grams respectively.

Here's a pretty good thread I started awhile ago... titanium lugs, over $500. It's a fine balance between overkill, and bargain. Also has other lugs you may want to cosider.

Jet - I'll take a different perspective from most here. I've had the Rays Duralumin and Works Duralumin lugs on my own cars before. The Rays I had on my Z since I did the wheels back in 03. Yes they are light - though you won't ever notice the weight difference at all. The problem with them is the fact that they are not durable if you take your wheels on and off frequently. After about 10 cycles, I stripped 2 lugs and that stripping wrecked the threads. Problem then becomes that you cant buy just 1 or 2 lugs, you have to buy a whole replacement set for $120.00 ish. I bought a replacement set, and have since had to replace a total of 5 lugs and 4 studs - not cool at all, and certainly not worth the minimal weight difference I lost. I've never used an air gun on them, and they still have chipped and gotten very "worn". If it's a show car that you never take the lugs off on, I suppose it doesn't matter what you use.

The other problem is the color fades on them over time. Mine started out a nice shade of satin black, and now, after only using soap and water (not wheel cleaner) they are grey with even some white showing. The coating they use just is not durable for the long term. The coating on the Work lugs was better (I had them on an older car), but still, they faded too over time.

Personally, I'd go for a set of spline drives and call it a day - they don't nick, they have never stripped a lug on me, you can get singular replacements. Not to mention, they are like $60 a set. I'm a function over form type of guy, and as long as the lugs are not some out of place chrome jobbie, they will look great. The spline drives in black I think would be perfect for you.

As a result of these duralumin lugs on my own car, we won't even sell them to someone anymore unless they beg. I've had too many customers get angry because they lost a lug, or stripped a thread and were literally p.o'd that they could not buy a single replacement.

If you want ti lugs, we have them too, but its purely for signature adding rights. In addition, if you drive the car daily, I'd stick to a closed end lug as well.

I just ordered some red rays lugs, what do you recommend torquing them to to ensure they don't strip too easily?

I was thinking about 75 ftlbs

taking them on and off is what wrecks them - that's why I don't use them anymore

Can you point to any good online source for these? Thanks.

the T1R lugs are the most pimp *** lugs on the market. They do carry a hefty tag indeed.

Those Greddy ones are pretty darn good looking too
