I dont know if any of you have read this, but they use a 275/275 combo. thought it would be nice to go with for tire rotation. I have hotchkis sways, can i make this neutral, or should i step the back up to a 295 and say screw tire rotation. Thanks for your imput anything about tire size will help my desision.

I have the 275F and 295R combo. To run a 275 up front you have to have a perfect offset if you are lowered. You will need a 9" +29 - +31 for it to work and not rub on the outer fender. 9.5" won't work in any offset.
A 295 rear will work with a rolled fender lip. I think the limit is a 295 on a 10" rim with a +25 - +30 offset. Anything more agressive and the tire will rub on the fender.

Suby dude is running 18x9.5 with a 30mm offset front and rear with 275 front, and 295 rear, no rubbing. had you read the link i sent you might have picked up that they ran a 9.5 with a 30 offset on there car, its close but no rubbing.

There are quite a few of us running 275/35 front 275/40 rear on the Nismo (and p45) 18x9.5 +30s. No issues with VDC/TCS, no rubbing, and the car feels balanced.
I just did a side to side remount rotation at 10k miles and I probably only have another 10k left, so no more rotation will be necessary.

yeah now i wont have to replace the backs all the time, plus with my sways i should be able to acheive ballence, i think ,my braking will be insain, right now the tires are the weakest link in braking.

his car is lowered 1 inch no rubbing.....mabey the offset has something to do with it. you said 9.5 wont work in any offset, they run 9.5 in that article. with a spacer to = a .30 offset, im sorry i assumed you didnt see it, my fault, no hard feelings.

Quote from the article....
They are running a 9 +30 and it rubs on the inside a small bit. The car in the article is not lowered.
I am speaking from my own experience. My front is lowered 1" and rubs with a 275/30/19 on a 9" +22. I had the car on the lift the other day and looked at the distance I had to move the wheel back and a +29 or 30 would work on the inside and outside not to rub.
Yes I am a pilot. No hard feelings. You're dad is in Denver?

After much searching, BBS found an 18x9-inch 42mm offset wheel and a 12mm spacer that, together, would add up to the wheel we needed. It's a half-inch narrower than the rear wheels, but the 275s fit fine.

This is a pic of my car with 9.5 +30 Nismo 18s with 275/35R18 and I have never rubbed anything. I originaly got the idea from Tony at performance who got the idea from one of the Nismo guys in Japan. (see purple Z below)

Here's a 275/40/18 on a 9" +30. How can your's possibly be a 9.5! an 8.5" maybe? Also your using a 35 series which is 1.08" smaller diameter than a 40 series which is the stock diameter.

From the above article
A 275/40 will bulge more on a 9" rim and maybe the rub due to deflection or possibly brand variance. I know that 235/50R17 RE040s on 8" wheels are wider than 245/45R18 RE040 on 8" wheels.
Yes, the diameter is smaller than stock but only oh so slightly.
When I measured them the stock 17s were 25, stock 18s were 25.25. and the 275/35 was 24.95.
The tires on the left side went on my car when the tires on the right came off.
This is a picture of a 275/35 mounted on a 9.5 Nismo rear wheel that I then put on the front of my car. 275/40s went on the back to keep the stagger the TCS likes. Actually, the TCS has been less sensitive with this setup and lets me get the car much more sideways before interrupting me.

We found, conveniently, that the rear tires Nismo uses on the Z--275/40ZR-18 BFGoodrich g-Force KDs mounted on 18x9.5-inch wheels with a 30mm offset--actually fit the front perfectly.

OK.... I'm confusing myself here. Let me get my act together. The 275/40/18 tire they are running in the article is the incorrect size. I don't know why they decided to run that tire. I just realized this. My appologies. The 275/35 18 you are running is actually the correct size as is the 275/30 19 I am running. Is your car lowered? My 9" +22 hits on my 1" lowered front and your only 2mm retracted than I am. I don't think that would work either.

It is lowered, but only slightly on S-tech springs. I drive the car hard in the mountains and need all the travel and tread I can get. I wish I had pics of it but it is in the body shop getting the back bumper fixed (yeah, I was parked in the middle of nowhere and somebody tried to park next to me).
I know what you mean about getting confused, sometimes the numbers and whatnot get thrown around so much that it can be hard to remember what way is up.
And yeah, I don't know why they went with 275/40 all the way around. Especially because they went with different rims so they can't rotate them without dismounting anyway.
It is still a fascinating article, I am glad SCC actually does more to try and get performance out of their projects than just bolt on parts given to them by their sponsors like some magazines (cough, Modified, Import Tuner).
