Default 225/50/17 all around for winter?

Yes another winter wheel and tire thread...

I'm thinking of running 225/50/17 all around on 17x8s for the winter

Has anyone else used this set up and does it mess around with VDC?

I know they are the same diameter all around, but the tire shops have recommended this if I want to be able to rotate the tires.

I had the same question about 55's as one of the tires I was looking at only came in the 55's (225/55/17).

Thanks for the post.

ya i think im going to use 225/55/17 all around now. Seems to be the popular choice opposed to 225/50/17

IMHO the thinner the tire in winter weather / rainy weather the less chance of hydroplaning!
