Opinion on Nitto NT 555
I have an '05 350ZR Touring with about 23K miles. My original Bridgestone's are getting thin and it is time to look around.
I went to my local Discount store & asked for suggestions on a tire that would give me a bit better wear than the Bridgestone's. The guy quoted me the Nitto NT555.
I am a conservative driver driving a combination of street/freeway most of the time.
Might the Nitto's be a good suggestion for me?
Any bad reports on them?
I also heard a rumor that tire prices are going up at the first of the year. Can anyone confirm this?

For the price I think the 555's are the most affordable, slightly-better-than-average performance tires available. Sure there are better tires but you have to pay a good deal more for them and they often aren't as easy to find.
I have almost 30k on mine and even after getting comfortable kicking the rear out on occassion my tires look great. I totally recommend them.

I have the 555's on my Z also they are a great tire for the $$$. They are usually at the bottom price wise but can easily out perform all they way up into some of the higher price tires. If you go big go w/ ps2's or pirelli's. I used to work for dtc for 8 yrs as a mgr. ( if you need anymore advise )
well why are the nittos so cheap then? and is discount tire a good p[lace to have install 19's? some places told me they couldn't gaurantee that they wouldn't scratch the rim
my nittos lasted somthing like 45000 miles but just sucked in the rain and at the strip i couldnt hook up for anything too much wheel spin when i got new tires i went with kuhmo exta mx and they seem to do much better in the rain and are a little better at the track
I am in a similar driving situation (street/freeway) the Nittos are a bit loud, but I have been running them for almost 30 k miles, i was afraid they were wearing abnormally but when i checked it out, inside/outside tire wear was very good. No feathering/cracking nothing. I am happy
