Default Wheel Size?

just asking a general question for everyone to see what you guys think... What do you think of SIZE 18'' rims compared to 19" rims? pros vs. cons and do you think 18s look small on the Z?

thanks

They both look good, but I think 18's are better for performance, since you can wrap them in a DR. 19's look nice, but if you get up in horsepower, you may find it hard to get traction. Just my 2 cents. What are your plans for your Z?

We have discussed the difference in performance, ride and potential for wheel impact damage several times. Please search.

well I can't find it, so if you could help instead of the typical person who always says "search" that would be appreciated.

a. Weight. Heavy wheels take more power to turn.
b. Increased stopping distance.
c. Less wheel protection from impact. If you go from a 40 to 35 series tires, the sidewall height decreases.
d. Ride comfort. Again less sidewall.

But no one cares so go 19 inch wheels. They look cool.

I agree David. 20" look even better IMO.

a. Some 19" and 20" wheels weigh the same as the stock wheels.
b. With similar weight, stopping distance should be close to the same.. if it is a concern go with better brake components.
c. Ride carefully and pay attention to the pavement. You should be doing this anyway.
d. If ride comfort was an issue I'd be rolling in a big sedan or SUV.

Also, slight changes in the the overall wheel and tire diameter as well as increased traction from wider wheels can slow you down. That's addressed by finding the right mix and not going too far.

Also, the wider you go with too aggressive of an offset you'll actually be creating negative camber in the rear.

I'm going to be in the market for wheels in the next couple months also, so this is something I've been researching very thoroughly. I've laid low and done a LOT of homework, but any time I try do do a search on this forum, it's a crapshoot at best, unfortunately.
