Default Different offset from Passenger to Drivers Side

This is a new one!

Does anyone have personal experience running unique offsets on each side of the Z? I’m going run 2 pair of wheels,

Passenger - +22mm front (9.5”) and +22mm rear (10.5”)
Drivers - +26mm front (8.5’) and rear +24mm (10.5’)

The weight off the passenger side will also be a few pounds lighter, but the tires will be same side to side.

Would there be any negative effects (other my bank account) with the set-up?

Thank you in advance,
Rob

Common sense would tell me this is a bad idea.

Uhhhhh, if common sense told you that this would be a bad idea why are you asking....common sense is telling you not to do it. Why would you need an expert opinion to back up common sense?

edit...this sounds really mean but i'm not trying to be mean, this is just the only way i can think to say it.

Okay, first of all, where can you get a set of rims (pair) that have different offsets? Are your brake calipers bigger on the drivers side than the passengers side? Just wondering since I can't seem to find a good reason why you would want different offsets on each side. Maybe front to back, but not side to side. I wouldn't recommend it . . .

I think he just wanted two different sets of wheels and not two diff offsets of the same wheel.

More importantly, why would you do a 8.5 on one side and a 9.5 on the other?

The things people do to be different. Sometimes different is just a nice way of saying weird. Don't do it!

Different wheels with different offset on the same axle? Is this for dirt track racing?

I put some thought into it and the solution came clear. I’m going to source or make spacers to match up the offsets, 4mm and 2mm, simple fix.

To answer everyone’s questions on why, running a pair of Volk GT-C on the driver’s side and Volk Time Attacks on the passenger side for 07!

I’m still unsure about the weight delta, but it’s minimal.

You posed a why question:

Why in the hell would a person of sound mind want to put different size and offset wheels on one side of a car and the other?

You then answered a what question:

What kind of wheels are you putting on that are these different offsets?

We are forced to infer why in the f*ck you came up with the idea to put different size wheels on either side of the car. From your last statement it appears that, due to act of God, you have come upon two sets of two wheels.

Were the other's destroyed?

Were you buying wheels one at a time when they, unbeknownst to you, stopped making Time Attacks?

Are you like 700 lbs so that you will be lower on the driver's side thus doing this to avoid rubbing?

Or is the real answer that you tried to sell a bad batch of GT-C's and when you got called out on it you decided to keep the ones that were still good?

Hmmm. so many questions, so few answers. But, I have a good one. It would be really stupid to put different wheel widths on the front unless you intend to drive only on a circular track in one direction. And it might still be a really stupid idea.

Kinda like the brotha's back in the day that wore two different style basketball shoes at the same time right? Do it, take pics, and let us all make fun of you.

The only time that was cool was for three days in High School when the Retro Jordans came out in patent leather in black and white with red. I knew this dude that bought (stole?) a pair of each and wore one black and one white a few days before the whites even came out. Was cool.

In the meantime I just got a new pair of high top Chuck T's. They sold me on these little green insoles which I thought were going to be really stupid, but it was legitimately the guy's birthday so I thought I'd give him an extra buck or so on commission. Turns out these are the coolest things ever. Comfortable like none other. Also, they rock cause they're this old-school bright green color.

My $0.02:

I can't imagine what performance reason you would have for doing this. If it lets you make right turns better, I bet it will suck for left turns, and probably will suck for driving straight. I can imagine this making the car difficult or even dangerous to drive.

I'll answer your question with a question.

Wouldn't a 32 year old man have more sense then to even contemplate putting two different width wheels on the front with 4 different offsets on all four?

I can't believe you guys are discussing a thread that was originally posted almost 6 months ago. Just because somebody drags something up from the dead doesn't mean that it needs another long drawn out discussion.
