245/35/19 & 275/35/19 is what you want.. keep the sidewall the same front and rear.

i have to disagree about that.

the most important thing you want to keep eqaul is the overall tire diameter. the front and the rear tire diameter need to be as close as possible (at most 0.25" off) if not the same.

i have 19x9 front and 19x10.5 rears

with...

245-35-19 front with overall diameter of 25.8"
285-30-19 rear with overall diameter of 25.8"

this keeps both wheels spinning at the same speed and keep your VDC happy, ie no slip lights.

I'm not being an a$$ here but what's your defintion of the word "work".

I can tell you what I would use and what I wouldn't use, even though both would "work"

I understand the needs of the VDC and whatnot .. but can you explain to me why 90 % of the forum with 19's are using the ever-so-popular 245/35 274/35 set up??

Clearance with relation to offset I think is the main issue. With a 10.5" wheel you are actually a bit too narrow. The 275s end up with a stretched look. That is actually a bad application. 285/35/19s are the better application for the rears but most people and vendors play it safe with the 275s. I would run 285/35s but I would have to roll my rears to clear the +18 offset.

im asking if they "work" because im trying to keep the overall diameter of the rim and tire combo as close to stock as possible. I guess no one hear has heard about minus 5 plus 10 meaning you go down 5 in the sidewall but plus 10 in the width and it ends up being the same overall diameter. Dont know if that was true or not so i figured id ask

Actually i am going to have to disagree with you on this. These cars are come from the factory with a bigger rear tire and keeping the same ratio front to rear will keep the vdc happy not keeping them the same height.

if your wheel can take it, I'd go 255/35/19 & 285/35/19

and

yes, the rear tires are taller than the front (KEEPS VDC HAPPY)

I am going to replace my rear ('06 GT) 265/35/19's with 275/35/19's when they wear out to see if this slight increase in diameter will tame VDC/TCS a little.

To the OP, find a tire-size calc and try to retain the front-rear diameter or circumference difference as a stock tire setup.
EDIT - davidv beat me to it... What he said...

[QUOTE]

I am running almost an inch bigger diameter in the back than the fronts and I swear it feels like it loosened up the TCS (don't have VDC) a little compared to stock, although my car has alway seemed a little loose with TCS on compared to the descriptions people post here.
