You for got SSR, they made some decent wheels, especially their forged track wheels. Too bad they are out of business.
Edit: Oh yeah and OZ. They are not really in the Japanese import market but they do have some quality wheels such as the Superleggra IIIs.

Really? I know Tirerack dropped most of their wheels. This is what's floating around the net:
Speed Star Co., manufacturer of aluminum wheel production (Osaka prefecture Yao city, President Masanobu Hamada) with its sales arm, Speed Star Sales (Osaka city, President Nobuko Hamada) on the 27th, self bankruptcy was applied for in the Osaka district court. Debt total was registered as 67 hundred million yen (~$60 million USD) Speed Star Co. cites increasing overseas competition as factors to its declining sales, and as a result applied self bankruptcy to itself and also Speed Star Sales Co. SSRs are junk - easiest the weakest "competition" wheel out there (I know many people who have destroyed them in their first agricultural excursion). To the author, what do you mean by "best"? For me, it's providing the strongest yet lightest wheel on the market. So what is the "best" according to my specifications? Fikse hands down (there's a reason why so many big name race teams in the country use them). Rays makes some decent forged wheels, as does BBS. HRE and iForged target the aestetic market. I'm not a big fan of Enkei - albeit light, they're pretty soft wheels.

Hey if your not interested in racing...I just came across a new wheel company several weeks ago that is going to set the wheel industry on fire. There web site is presently under construction & it looks like another 10 days or so. They will have 6 out of 10 styles for the Z. Only 19's & 20's & only 3 finishes...Glossy Black, Brilliant Silver & Chrome Black (metallic). The outer wide lip will be stainless steel polished with 2&1/2" lip & 4" lip. Staggered wheels & offsets, +20 & +25 ideal for the Z. High quality lugs & aluminum rings for better stabilty, vibration free ride than plastic. Plus they will weigh surprisingly light. Example...19X8.5 21.2lbs. 19X9.5 23.0lbs. Hopefully priced cheaper than Axis. IMHO I'm very excited because I've been researching well over a year & it sure looks like I'll be making my first purchase.
