Default Which TIRE to get??

I'm trying to decide between these tires:

Falken FK 452
vs.
Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance
vs.
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

Which one would you get and why??

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 rates at the top of independent testing by Consumer Reports ands other publications for good reason: it is an overall performer. For drag racing, autocross, rain, slush, handling and cornering, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 does well for each purpose. I can spend the day drag racing with 2.0 second 60-foot times, then drive home in the rain and feel confident.

With the choices given I think I'd go with the Falken FK452's. They're a lot better than the old 451's they replaced. My issue with the GS-D3's is their tread design which gives a wiggling sensation when making quick maneuvers after they've been heated up. They are great in the rain though, I'll give them that. Definitely skip the Nitto NT 555.

If you're willing to fork out the money for the GS-D3's I'd suggest looking at the Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions as I would take those over everything else. They are stickier and handle better but lack the standing water traction of the GS-D3. They are both very close in performance, but on track the Bridgestone will win every time.

If you dont think Bridgestone RE050A PPs wet traction is good enough, you can try Bridgestone RE960AS PP, it's rated the best all-season performance tire from tirerack.com.

I'm running the Bridgestone RE960AS now. =) But seriously don't bother with the RE960AS unless you have to deal with snow. If you don't see snow, stick with the RE050A Pole Position.

I'd go with the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, but Davidv is wrong, those don't work in slush. You don't want to drive those tires in the snow. Because of the design, they usually feel a little squooshy or wiggly at first, but once the mold release is scrubbed off, they typically work better. They are amazing in the rain and have awesome grip in the dry. I went to Bob Bondarant's performance driving school in Phoenix and all the cars had F1 GS-D3's on them and they performed awesome. Bridgestone RE050 Pole Positions are good too.

Cool, exactly what I was thinking. I was leaning towards the Goodyear F1 GS-D3s myself but just wanted to get an idea of other users' opinions. Looks like I'm going to buy tires b4 my new wheels, actually. Anyone, know how good a deal you can get on tires if you buy together as a pkg from the vendors w/wheels? I figure I'd rather get the wheels first so I can mount the TPS to them and since they're "safer to ship" that way. Then I'll just just throw on the Goodyears. Worried about the shops in NJ/NY messing up my new wheels trying to put on the tires, though .
