So i have been quite curious about what i could do to my car lately, and the first thing that came to mind was rims.
I already have forged rays rims, which came on the stock track, but i dont like the fact that they are 19's in the rear. the tires are 200$ more per tire. not to mention track cars run 18's, at least the ones that i have seen. so i was thinking, what if i trade in my 19' rear rims to the nissan dealer for a pair of the front 18' rims that i have in the front, you know, for a little fee. i have been thinking of it for the past few days.

Ridiculous idea IMO. Plus the wheels in the front are not as wide. And you're willing to pay a fee to trade the wheels? Why then arent you willing to pay a little more for the tires?
I cant believe you bought a Z, and it had those wheels, and you want to part with them. Sounds like you have an 06 Track, which Im sure wasnt cheap, and your concerned about the price of tires. Im not sure what to say honestly.

I personally think its a great idea. I can understand staggering the width of tire but having 18" front and 19" rear is the most ridiculous thing I've seen. There is no need for it.
OP, I would take HighwaySpeed's advice and buy the 35th anniversary wheels and sell your 06 track wheels. You'll probably have enough cash left to buy some decent lowering springs.

How can you say its not necessary when clearly the 2006 Z was the best stock track car Z made. It outhandles every other Z before it, and we all know that its because of the tires and size that they have.
Its not to say that he couldnt sell these for some serious money and get another set of wheels, Im just not too sure why you would. They are light for their size, and that is really what matters most. You could always go with a little shorter size tire to increase acceleration on the track if you needed.
But in the end, I guess its whatever floats your boat. I just think its kinda foolish.

Well I can see having 18's up front as a good idea ONLY in the idea that the steering wheel turning response will be better for the fact that the wheels are lighter and less inertia when rolling. This will also help out the power steering pump from working too hard.
The main reason why I sold my 19s for 18s is due to tire selection in the super sticky compounds.

The larger width tire sizing didn't help nearly as much as the tire change to the RE050A from the original RE040's.
18's all around is a better idea if you want a better handling car as there are very few good tires available in proper 19" sizes. If you want anything stickier than stock you're pretty much out of luck. Screw 19's unless you want nothing more than show.

Hey man, you don't gotta lie to kick it. No way did you have a pair of rims that big on your Z. I'm gonna have to call you out on that one.
