Where do you guys go to get them installed? I brought in a couple of loose tires I didn't buy from Les Shwaub for them to mount and they pi$$ed and moaned because I didn't buy the tires from them. They said at the time that if they scratched my wheel or broke off my PSI sensors, that I would be out of luck. I would like to get my tires online and save about $200 bucks but who will install them without crying?

if they said that about scratching your wheels i would be more worried about that than of them crying about you not buying the tires from them.

Just print out the online price (with tax and shipping) and call tire shops until you get one that does price matching. I hit tire rack, and have big-o price match all the time

 

lot's of shops will do it. If you bought from tirerack, they have a list of installers that will do it for you. Just call around, and don't take it to anyone that won't accept responsibility for damaging your wheels

 

For a regional shop ask for recommendations in your regional forum.

Credit card companies can be a bit finicky about drop-shipping (shipping address different from billing address). I got in touch with my credit card company and added several alternative delivery addressees.

 

I hate when places cry about you not buying tires from them. Then tell crap like they can't help you if they scratch or dent your wheel. BS. Also, I found that tires-easy.com has some good prices on tires.

 

Sorry but I totally disagree, those guys at Big Ho are morons. You couldn't pay me enough to ever deal with those guys again. I haven't set foot in one of their stores in over 15 years.

 

take your business somewhere else if they cry about it. you're PAYING them to put them on, it's not like it's free so if they biatch about it just say ok! and walk out the door!

 

Your best (and safest) bet is to find a reputable local shop, not a chain store. The local guy lives and dies by how he treats his customers. Check with members of local car clubs (Z and others) as most car fanatics will know somebody who will treat you right.

As for online ordering, it's not always the cheapest. The local guy I found quoted me essentially the same price for Michelin PS2s as did the big MO places like Tire Rack, Discount Tire Direct, etc.

This past December, I was in the market for some autocross tires. My local guy did carry them so I bought them from DTD. He still got $100 of my money for mounting and balancing because he's somebody I can trust with high $$$ wheels and tires.

JK!!!!!! i wouldnt think it would be hard to find a place to put them on.

 

Any reputable tire shop should be able to do it, but I'd make sure first that they're not going to gouge the rims or break the TPMS off. I bought my winter wheels and tires from Discount Tire Direct online so they came mounted and balanced. You shouldn't have any problems finding a local place to do the work properly.

Anyone who warns you of possible wheel scratching or broken TPMS has probably done it before.

america tire would match tirerack prices. i don't think i had to add shipping cost either. But you'll have to pay sales tax for sure.

 

screw Less Shwreib. Take it to bigO(the one recommended by tirerack only).
Make sure you mention tirerack to them. Because they know they will be graded by customers by online survey.

 

Oh yeah and BTW I wouldnt reccomend buying tires online.
Heres a little FYI from those who dont know about shipping tires
I work at UPS and tires are the #1 item that does not reach its destination. When they do not go to there destination bc of a lost label which occurs a lot on tires. depending on location they go to a loss hub where they sit in a warehouse till someone claims them which as you know tires come in same sizes so they easily mix other peoples up so typically its a pain in the *** to have to find which size brand is yours especially if there are several sets that are the same. I never ship tires anymore after I found out about that. let Tire Kingdom have to deal with all that.

 

I suppose that can happen. I've bought sets of wheels/tires from tirerack.com and discounttire.com and had no problems.
