Default sticker shock.

Time has come to change my stock tire on my 03 Touring. I called the place without any idea how much they're going to be. The estimate came out to be $890 for a set of Nitto NT555. My budget is a bit lower than that, any other recommendation ?

it ain't that bad if your buying 17" tires. 18"/19" prices are absolutely outrageous.

Why in the hell would you get those anyway???

Go with some Hankooks. One of the best values available.

I got a set of 4 of arguably the best street tires, Falken Azenis 615's for less than $600 shipped.

I agree...stick to Falken. They are cheaper and good all around tire. Check your local Discount Tire. They price match all internet sales. Just take them a print out and they will match it. You should not pay over $500-550 for tires mounted and balanced for 17" tires and $600-650 for 18".

I recently got quoted locally like $280 for each my rear Nitto 555s. Toyos were like $330 each. Prices include install/balancing/etc. but that's still crazy. I'm going to run my current tires into the ground before replacing them.

I'm going to look into the Falkens. Thanks for the tip.

If you don't have snow, get the Kuhmo ECSTA SPT, good tire for sun and rain.

Kumhos are great and what I currently run. I was also doing some research and found the General to be real good in wet/dry traction as well as cornering traction. I also looked at the wear and it looked to be above average. The price is actually lower than Kumhos. If I were on the market for tires RIGHT NOW, General would be it. (i.e. 275/40/18ZR are $111.00)
