Default tread wear on toyo t1-s

approx how many miles should i be getting out of these. very unargressive driven. no burnouts just regular driving around town cruising. had on for about 17k. mechanic said my fronts are showing a tiny bit of metal wire. i baby my car and cant believe i need new tires already. i garage in winter and my car only has a total of 24,000 miles. bought rims and tires in early 2004. btw these are the front tires that i need rears needed soon though

Treadwear ratings are irrelevant as they are unique to each manufacturer... I probably have about 20k miles on my T1S street tires and I'd say I have 40% tread left (and would have more but I put two track days on them when I didn't have R-compounds available). There could be a lot of things that would cook your tires prematurely, usually a less than perfect alignment (especially toe) is the cause.

yes it has to be the tire feathering prob. i thought if you had bigger wheels it would fix itself. i thought i heard that a while ago but dont remember. oh well. new t1r's on the way for tomorrow. ill be replacing all four and getting a wheel alignment. soon i will be selling the rear tires as they are not worn as much as he thought at the time. look for a FS: thread for new rears if interested thnx again guys. wish i payed more attention 3 yrs ago would have saved myself $1K for now.

what does (especially toe) mean. is that the prob with the tire feathering issue

Tire feathering didn't affect the rear, and you can tell if your car was plagued with it if the inside of the front tires wore unevenly. Another indicator would have been the tire noise as your car would sound like a truck...

Post some pics if you can. Your problem may also sound like a simple wear alignment issue which is different from feathering. Even though some feathering can be corrected with alignment adjustment, the root cause may be different.
