Default VOLK GTS 19" offset...

Hi Today went to A performance auto shop and i was that i was told sold Volks, i was planing on ordering some GTS's in Mercury Silver 19" offset +17 +18. But he told me they actually had some in that color in his other shop. 19"x9.5 front, 19"10.5 Rear, but the offset was +30 Front and +28 Rear. I had mixed feeling to say the least, feeling happy that they had some in!I mean wow some GT-S's in the right color, but in a higher offset then expected. He did not have any pictures of the rims so i have no idea what they look like. SO my question is does anyone know what +30 and +28 looks like and would it look weird on 350z.

EDIT: He mentioned that the lip for the +30 was 81mm and +28 was 107mm which is roughly 4inches.

Call Rick @ Status... see if he has them in stock with the +17/+18 offsets.

I learned early on, get what you really want and don't settle. If you settle with the offsets you didn't want, you're gonna hate yourself for it later on. Everytime you look at your rims you will say... "could've, would've, should've".

Yes I agree here. But also keep in mind that the 10.5" wide with low offsets might look funny if you have stock suspension, or stock body, etc. The lower offsets as you know will be a bit more tucked and might actually look better if you don't plan on doing the other mods I mentioned.

The advantage of the higher offset is that you can run larger tires without rolling/cuting the rears. They're not going to look as good though as the +17/+18 because the lip would be a lot thinner. If you like the GTS look that everybody has then don't do it. Call Rick @ Status. I got a great deal from him on my set of Tit. Gunmetals.

Really? Rick at Status shipped mine to my front door from Cali in 5 days. Most of the West Coast vendors have them in stock. The price of these wheels are the same as any set of Volks GT series w/tires. Anywhere from $3400-$3700. As for pics there's a whole thread on them:

Yes the smaller or more negetive the offset the larger the lip because the face mounts closer to the inside of the wheel thus pushing the wheel out.
I measured my +18 and it put me close to 5" depending on your reference point on the wheel. I've measure a GT-C in +22 and it was just a bit over 4". I think the +28 will put you around the 3" market +/-

i called rick@ status and they said they onyl have black and gold. and it would take 60-90 days inorder to get the mervcury silver, in 19" with +18 and +17 offset. T-T

from the thread i have noticed that +18 and +17 is about a 5 inch lip, the guy who has them in say the +30 offset and the +28 is a 4inch lip, and w/o tires i can take all four for $2600.

So its either i save a little cash and time but lose an inch of lip.

or

pay a little more and wait a little longer to get what I truely want....

anyone know of any other places that might have the Merc Silver GT-S's instock?

What size tires are you going to mount?

With a 9.5" front wheel a 275/30/19 would be the right size. For the 10.5" rear a 295/30/19 would be the minimum size I would run. But those these tire sizes would never work with +17/+18 offsets. Anything less than a 275/295 and the tires will be stretched on those rim widths. To fit the correct size tires you have to go with the +30/+28 offsets.

To fit a +17/+18 you will have to stretch your tires to make it work. The correct tire sizes for those rim widths won't work with those offsets. I stick with the minimum and maximum rim widths the manufacturer specifies for the given tire size. I hate the stretched tire look which seems to be the norm here.

Problem with the 295/30/19s is that it's an offsize that he's not going to find with the Toyos, Falkens, or Nittos. He's going to have to go with Michelin PS2 or a more expensive brand. 275s are already stretched on the 10.5s. The most common application is 255/35/19s F and 285/35/19s R.
