Default Who has had their fenders CUT?

I know all about rolling, but I am wanting to cut my rear fenders rather than roll them - hoping I can gain a little extra clearance, plus I have a grinder and not a fender roller right now... Anyways, how far can you cut them? Can you go all the way to the edge? I dont know if the rear fender is like a "two-piece" where it will start to seperate if you go too far. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Mine was cut at status auto, a strip approx 3/8" was cut. I am sure you will weaken the fender the more you cut off.

so there are extra benefits in cutting as opposed to rolling the fenders? i always assumed rolling is safer.

Either way mace sure you don't mess up the paint and get it chipping. If you do cut, be sure to use some touch up paint and anti-rust primer so it wont rust.

I had about 3/8" cut as well. No issues. I cut rather than roll cause the guy who cut them at the body shop said they've been seeing problems when people roll them, the fender tends to ripple. I saw it happen to a buddy of mine's lexus GS.

I had mine cut. I have about 1/4th of an inch left on the fender lip. Thats plenty to me. I havn't had any problems yet. Its been about three weeks. I have plenty of room and I can probalby fit 295/30 tires on the rear w/ the +20 offset on a 10'' rim.

Yeah, but watch how much you cut off. I think gt3 was just saying that it will WEAKEN the fender the more you cut off. I'd still rather cut than have ripples!

People cut the spot welds on the fender, put paint on it and think it wont rust and or seperate over time. You are taking 2 pieces and cutting where they meet people! Give it time and it will start to look like a$$...

Well took the car in and had them rolled instead - glad I went that route. Now if I do ever wanna run something more aggressive and rub, at least it will be against the rolled edge. Gained alot of clearance too.

What are you talking about? Theres no spot welds in there... Atleast not where mine was cut? Filing it down and coating it with weld protectant paint will keep it good atleast for the lifetime of the car in my ownership..

There are welds that hold the outer quarter panel piece to the inner fender piece spaced ~2" apart
