I have 19 inch PIAA superrozza's with P-Zero Rossos in the front.

This is the 3rd time I've taken it to the shop. First both fron wheels were leaking air and were getting to lower psi within days. They managed to fix one by buffing the side of the tire and putting sealant while gluing it to the rim.

Last 2 times only the driver side is losing air slowly, was at 32 psi on friday now at 21 psi on monday. Last time they buffed the lip of the tire so it would be a better fit with the wheel and sealed it as well.

They say the tires are fine and the valves are fine as well.
what could the problem be?

 

Could be the seals themselves. I had a similiar prob with Work valve stem. I had it replaced. Works fine now (no pun intended).

 

Wouldn't the water tub point out the problem being there in the first place then?

he means dunking it into a tub of water, if air is leaking they will see where the bubbles are coming from

if they say tires and valves are fine, then that leaves the rims

 

what size rims and tires? did you buy them used? where did you buy the tires?

 

You might try squirting soapy water on the tire and rim. Look for bubbles.

 

Bought everything brand new from a local shop, i do know that one of my rims is slightly bent but there isn't much we can do and I'm fairly certain it's the other wheel that isn't leaking anymore. If there was a crack on the rim they would've seen it by now no? Anyway gonna drop it off at another shopthis afternoon and see if these guys can find the problem.

 

A crack could be anywhere. Even if they are brand new, doesn't mean that one of the stem seals isn't bad.

 

i think that some tires just loose pressure over time when traveling at high speeds, for example when you do a lot of freeway driving, but over a few days... thats definately strange.

 

And the other tire only lost 2 psi in a month which is fine by me, can be temperature difference and whatnot. I had tire pressure problems with those tires in the back as well until i destroyed one and was left with only one and no replacements, so i switched to Yokohamas which are keeping their pressure fine also. I should get 2 more of those for the front and hopefully be done with it.

Well they can't find anything wrong with the wheel, perhaps someone is ****ing with it in my neighborhood or my gf's neighborhood

 

I vote for the valve stem as well, I had one that only leaked at night, maybe when it got colder and the seal contracted, who knows, anyway, had it changed and they have been fine.

i little fix-a-flat will work, but not really a fix

 

Liquid soap + Water + Water Bottle= a fighting chance at finding a slow leak.

 

They did the soap thing and did the water tub, couldn't find a leak. Maybe it's when I'm at high speeds or when it gets colder or something. Beats me.

 

A cars weight can change the size of the leak. Put enough air in it and you will find it. If your trying it with 30 lbs your not going to find a slow slow leak.

If its not the valve stem, and it passes a water test, then your rim is bent. A bent rim can cause an undetectable slow leak. They have this red goo they can line the tire with when they put it on rim that will stop the slow leak from a tweaked/bent rim. It's nasty stuff though, once you put it on its nasty getting it off the rim when its time for new tires. I would suggest buying a new rim if that is the case.
