Default Rim exchange

My roomate has some handmade 3 piece rims from his NSX. The Lug patterns are exactly the same as the 350 Z. The rims should just slide on. The only problem is that on my Z on the drum of the wheel there is a lug nut which prevents the NSX rim from just sliding on. On the back of both the Z rim and NSX rim there are slots bored out for the lug to fit into but the lug on my Z is too big for the slot on the NSX rim. (hehehe...sorry being dirty). Now my question is this..or perhaps question(s). What is the lug nut there for? Can I remove it? Is it possible to perhaps find a lug nut that is smaller for my Z drum so that the NSX rim will finally fit? Would it be wise to bore out the NSX rim a little bit to make it fit? Would that interfere with the itegrity of the rim?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanx

You mean the gold post about an inch long? That "lug nut" is simply a device to keep you from mounting the rear tires on the front by accident. It comes right off.
