305's are too freakin wide
#21
I know this is probably confusing as hell but here goes.
After taking another long look at everything and wondering what the hell my options are, The 305 is just too wide, at least to run with correct camber and have it still tuck in under the fender to any degree..
The 305 tire width itself is just wider and bulges out more than I thought it would (about 1/2" over the wheel lip) but it looks fine.
With the excess negative camber I have now, The top of the tire is only tucked under the top of the fender by maybe 1/4", if that. The tire/wheel is pushed out as close to the fender right now as I would ever want a tire/wheel pushed out. If I adjust the camber for that 305, the sidewall would stick out beyond the fender maybe 1/4".
Right now it's barely rubbing on the fender and can be fixed with just a tiny tweak to the fender lip.
Just by getting the camber dialed in for a 305, that would probably move the sidewall far enough away where I don't think it would make contact with the shock. But if by chance it did, a 5mm spacer should easily fix that problem, however the tire would stick out past the fender way too much and look ghetto for my taste and require even more fender tweaking.. I don't mind pushed out as long as at least the top of the tire is tucked in just less than flush.
So for now I'm just going to tweak the lip up enough to clear, leave the camber the way it is (too negative) and drive it this way and just keep a close eye on the shock rub. I can't tell if it's actually moving all the way to the the metal shock body itself or it's just lightly grazing that floppy rubber sleeve over the shock.
The tires will wear like hell because of the camber but when they do, I will just put my old set of 275's on 9.5's back on, which only have 3,000 miles on them anyway. Then when the 275's weat out, I will go with a 295, so I have room to adjust eveything and make it look all nice and tiddy.

I'm using the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's Size: 305/30ZR19. It has a section width of 12.6"
The same tire model tire in a 295/30/19 is exactly 1" narrower (section width 11.6" ) than their 305, which is what I'm going to use when these become toast.
The 295 will work perfect. Just wish I knew that before hand LOL.

Tomorrow I will put on my new rims which are 19x11+24 with the 305's and hope for the best . Also I am on coilovers and dropped about a inch with no adjustable camber arms.
BTW here is a pic of my current set-up(sorry I dont have a bigger picture)
In this picture you can kinda see that the rim is still abit inward and not really sticking out of the fender.
Hope this helps a little bit.

Your sidewalls must stick out passed the fender when looking at it fron the back off the car? How much does the sidewall stick out when looking at it from behind?
I could get the clearance I need to clear the shock better by just correcting the camber better but I know that even with my 35 offset, it will stick out maybe 3/8" passed the fender.

I dont have a picture of the car from behind. The tire doesnt stick out of the fender from the top part, it does stick out from where the rear bumper meets the quarter panel but that is because the way the bumper is shaped. You should put a spacer and roll the fender slightly and you will be good to go.

So what about a 305/30/19 tire on a 10.5" +24 rim? Shouldn't be a problem?
I just need to figure out which tire to go with that isn't so beefy like some 305's are. Some run narrow than others like kwame mentioned.

Who knows a 295/30/19 ps2 might just fit your needs, I know it doesn't say 305 on the sidewall but if it works it works.
