Default stock 18 inch vs g35 rays 19 weight

I did a search and could not find an answer for my question. Anybody know what kind of weight advantage that I might gain by going with the g35 rays 19s over my stock '07 18s? Or are they actually heavier? Thanks in advance and sorry if this question has already been answered.

Default weight difference

The weight of the 19" rays are around 19 to 22lbs if I remember correctly. They are one piece forged rims so they are very light. Not to mention they are made in Japan compared to the Thailand made 18's on the Z's. Using the 19's will lead to a slightly smaller profile for your tires to keep in the same diameter of the stock wheels. So dodging pothole and bumps will be moving up in priority. As far as performance goes, the width of the rims are the same and even though the rays are lighter than stock, handeling or feel won't increase that much if at all. I'd say the rays look so much better on Z's than on G35's in my opinion.

I posted the link for 350Z OEM wheel stats a hundred times. Haven’t the faintest about the G35.

The range of weight you listed is a bit big. 3 lbs/corner difference is huge. 19lb 19"s are fairly light. 22lb 19s are starting to look heavy to me. Perhaps my perception is off but wheels that weigh +20lbs are not light in my opinion. I guess it all depends what you're used to. I used to have 18" Enkei RP02 wheels that were M.A.T. formed wheels, not cast, that had 80% of a strength of a forged wheel, cost 4 times less than Volks and weighed 18lbs. Now that is a wheel!!! They were amazing. Enkei doesn't make them anymore

I've looked all over for the weight of the G 19's and I can't find it. I could just take them off and weigh them but I don't have a scale. They did feel much lighter than the enthusiast rims that I took off. That makes sense considering the stock enthusiast rims weigh 26.56lbs/ea . That's super heavy for 18's.

If my 19" G rims weigh approx. 20lbs. each, w/ the tire combo I have on they weigh 46.62lbs/front and 47.5lbs. rear. My stock enthusiast rim/tire combo(stock) weighed 54.56lbs/front and 56.56lbs/rear.\

That averages out to a 4.24lb reduction per wheel? Could that be right?..someone has to find the weight of the 19" G rims.

Thanks for the replies guys. In that case does anybody want my stock 18s? Hehe... I'll be throwing the 19s on as soon as I get them. I didn't realize the 18s were that heavy.

so I just ran downstairs and weighed my G35 OEM Rays 19's...

Of course my scale isn't the most detailed in accuracy, but both the front and rear weighed 22.5lbs with TPMS still attached.

That's the weight without tires

Thanks a lot for weighing those. Not as light as I thought. I'll now have to weigh my stock 18s. THanks again.

did u put em right on scale or do the more accurate bit of weighing urself and then holding the rim and finding the difference

all scales are most accurate in the middle of their weight i.e. if it goes to 300lbs its most accurate around 150.

see if you do the above and if it comes out different.

thank you

Go weigh some wheels yourself if you don't like how he did it. What diff are you going to come up with? Maybe .5% for it not being in the "middle"?

no its actually alot bigger of a difference than that because the calibration of the scale isnt set for small weights.

i wanted to really see if they were 19lbs, but they came up 22.5 on his scale.

im not trying to be a dick im just curious andif the guy actually had the time to do it once he wouldnt surely be like hey ill do it again right rather than be like "go screw urself" and be a ***** like you came across

+1 agree. But it is about 22.5 sadly. I remember I did weigh them without TPS and they were around there before I installed them.

Thanks again guys. I did not get a chance to weigh the wheels since they already had tires mounted. It just by the seat of my pants but the wheels feel lighter when driving around on them.

I pulled the tires off because I'm selling the rims and weighed them on my bathroom scales so its probably not too accurate.

The g35s front - 21 lbs. Rears 23 lbs

My volk sf challenges 19 x 8.5 26lbs and 19 x 9.5 27 lbs

If your talking about the 2003-2005 rims, they weigh around 18 lbs front and back.

Edit - Doh. Old thread.
