Default Looking for longer lasting tires need some help

I am looking to get new tires for the Z. I want ones that last longer than the OEM tires they put on the 2003 Z. I have found 2 have have a pretty high tread wear rating.

Which would you guys recommend? If you know of another that you prefer, list it and state why.

My primary goal is to have tires that last longer/reasonable price. OEMs only went 11,000 miles for me.

The two I have located so far are:

Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position

Pirelli PZero Nero M&S

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Potenza RE960AS's are great but you're not going to have the grip of say... RE050A's.

San Diego?? You don't even need all-season. Buy a set of Falken FK452's and be done with it!

What advantages do the FK452s have? Do you know where to get them cheaply online?

Get them at edgeracing.com or discounttiredirect.com(if you go this route join crossroadonline.com and get an extra 10% off + free shipping). It's cheap and has good wet and dry traction for the street. Better than the Toyo T1-R in my opinion.

Actually, if your going to get Falken tires, the 512's would be a better bet. They have a 30,000 mile guarentee, and peform better then the 452's. 04treefiddy has a S/C Z and his car is running good times with the 512's.

I myself have the Falken ST115's, and they were a great tire. I have put about 28k on them, and they now should be changed, but still have useable tread left in em. They were great in the rain, but not recommend in the snow AT ALL. It was not fun in the snow!

The wet braking distance from 50 mph stayed within a 25 foot range [85'-110'] for all the Tirerack tested tires.

Fastest wearing braked shorter so it depends on yout individual preference and propensity to have wrecks.

Allowing a directional tire to be used below 6/32" half tread is a sure way to lengthen wet braking distances SIGNIFICANTLY!

400, but from what I have read, that is a relative measurement to other tires from that manufacturer only.

+1, that's what I was gonna say but I'm not sure if they make an application that fits OEM wheel size. I run them all the way around on my aftermarket wheels. So far, they've outlasted my old Toyo Proxies and Dunlop SP9000's. I'm also quite partial to the thread pattern, esthetic wise.

I just checked for the Falken 512 in 225/45-18 but it is only available in 225/40-18. Is this going to substantially affect the ride quality?

What size are you running on the rear? I need 275/35/19's.

I'm running the stock sizes on my Touring wheels

My fronts barely have any tread left with 50k miles but you can still see the tread pattern. My rears didn't last long due to inner wear.

No alignment > me

Mikestro,

Don't know answer to your question above but had same issue with Goodyear F1s.....not available in OEM size. Since all parts of Z are intended to work together, I wanted to stay with OEM sizes. I've got Toyo T 1rs and have been happy. Quiet, good grip, & I'll get at least 25,000 mikes out of them.

I have the Eagle F1's and love them. They're quiet, I like the tread design, but I'd really like a little more mileage from a tire. Plus I want to switch to 285/30 and F1 's don't come that size.
