Yokohama ADVAN S.4. VS BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2
I need to replace my Bridgestone Potenza SO3. I am debating between Yokohama ADVAN S.4. or BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2. I needed some opinions or any other suggestions. I want something that will be quiet, comfort ride, better treadwear, and traction. My current setup is 245/35/19 and 275/35/19. I want to change it to 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 or 285/35/19, b/c I don’t like my tires looks stretch on my rims also some protection for my lips. Thanks in advance.
The two tires you are comparing are very different. The Yokohama Advan S4s are considered an all season touring directional tires with a completely different tread pattern and compound as the BFGs. When deciding between the two tires you need to ask yourself what is the main purpose you are using your car for and what characteristics are you looking for in a tire. You are going get more of what you are looking for with the S4s over the KDWs.
Here are the pros and cons of the S4s over the KDW:
S4s
Pros:
Better all purpose and condition traction
Better wet weather traction
Much longer tread life
More comfortable ride
Cons:
Less grip due to harder compound
Less lateral control due to softer sidewalls
Less lateral grip due to less aggressive tread patten (handling loss)
These two tires are apples and oranges. Also, you need to double check your application chart for the S4. I don't think they offer the sizes you are lookin for.

I have 9.5 and 10.5, go 285's out back and 265's front. The 255's are a little too stretched for my taste, it's not hideous but i didn't want the stretched look.
I've heard that the BF Goodrich tires are a little wider or actual to size. My Toyo's for example are a little bit smaller then the posted 285 size. What i'm saying is every tire company seems to have a different way of measuring their tires. Tires are like shoe companies, if adidas make a 11.5 sized shoe a puma 11.5 sized shoe is going to be different.
Another thing, I have +18/17 (I forget) out back and with the 285's i had to roll the fenders. Have you already rolled your fenders? People get away with the 275 35 setup and they don't have to roll the fenders but with a 285 your probably going to have to. Unless you have mad camber.....or you already rolled your fenders.

255/35/19s are perfect for a 9.5" wheel. The wheel width range for this application is 8.5-10. You want to be in the middle of the application range. 265/30/19s are too short. You will be around 25.4" rolling diameter vs. the stock 25.9". With 255/35/19s you will closer at 26". Also You shouldn't worry about rolling the rears at +22. The BFGs at 285/35/19s will work with your offset even though they come in at 11.6" vs. 11.2" for the Toyos.

I love my KDW-2's. Great wet/dry traction and their longevity is suprising. With about 3-4 auto-x's and two solid track days on them, they have almost 28k miles on them. They will need to be replaced soon however.
