I am in need of new front tires. 1 just got a nail this morning and they are both pretty low on tread.
I just got a new set of OEM rear a month ago, and my $$ is tied up in my business which has put off my plans of buying new wheels/tires.
Anyhow. The car is a '03 Track w/ oem wheels and tires. The rear tire size is a stock RE040.
Since I will be stuck with the rears for the rest of the year, I was thinking about upgrading the fronts to a better tire.
I was going to get a stock sized BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 to put on the fronts. I know some tires, even though they are rated the same size ie 225/50 might not have the same tread width or rolling dia. depending on design.
Specs from manf. websites:
BFG dia. is 25.9
RE040 dia. is 25.2
Can anyone tell me if there will be any adverse effects with my stability/ traction control by using this tire on the front?

If you get the correct tire size upfront, 225/45/18 or 245/40/18, you should be fine with VDC.
However, it's not a good idea to have stickier rubber in the front than in the back. You could have a very dangerous snap oversteer situation.
And tires are meant to be used as a system. Either get RE040s to match the front or buy 4 matching tires.
