I have an 05 Z today I noticed that my rear tires are almostly completely bald in the middle of the tire and sides still have good amount of tread left. I know there were problems with alot of 03-04 Z owners with the front tire featering but as anyone else encountered this problem with the rears? These tires are not even a year old yet and I only put about 6,000 miles on these BFGoodrich G-Force KDW tires. My rears are 275/35 with 19inch wheels. Has anyone had problems with these tires?

how much psi should I put on the rears? I keep it at 40psi is that too much? I keep alot of pressure because of pot holes in east coast.

 

the tread wear you are describing sounds like over inflation. when the middle of your tires wears out quickly it's because the tire is so over inflated it causes the middle to bulge out and the sides barely make contact with the pavement. tire lowering your pressure and even running a bit low will help even things out.

 

Either overinflation (35psi would be normal) or too wide of a tire for the wheel. 19" x ??.

it's a rear wheel dive car you aint peeling out and whatnot on your front tires

 

I do drive aggressive and I do not do burn outs, my FD RX7 had Bridgestone S03's and those things lasted 20,000 miles and the FD was pushing 430rwhp and I always had 38-42psi on those rear tires on 18inch 275/35 ... weird.

oh..sorry wheel size is 19x9 up front 19X10 1/2 rears

 

You need to run a wider tire on those 19x 10.5. Like at least a 285. That's not your problem though. I'd only run about 35psi in your tires.

 

Yeap, your rear wheel is wide enough so it's not a problem of a wide tire squeezed onto a narrow wheel. Too much pressure.
