Default SSR GT7 with pics!

I just got a great deal on my new wheels from the Tire Rack! Normally $379 each, I got four of them on closeout for $516 shipped. I must admit, I was a little worried that they would look too small, but I think they look great.

Pros:
They don't draw a lot of attention
Have clearance for a 332x32 BBK
Five to six pounds lighter than a stock 17
and 0.5" or 1" wider

Cons:
They don't draw a lot of attention
Offset is conservative

I immediately felt a huge difference after the install. Maybe it's in my head, but dropping 22 lbs of rotational weight really makes it pull. Previously, I changed from the stock 225/50 & 235/50 tires to 235/45 & 245/45. When I had this combination on stock wheels, I had a lot of sidewall flex. The wider wheel stretches the tire and I've regained a lot of control. Also, I'm not crazy about the offset, because they look a little sunk in. The Tire Rack will not deviate from the stock offset at all, so I'm going to order a set of spacers. 15mm in the front and 25mm in the rear.

I promise that I'll post some more pictures, especially after I install the spacers. If you are thinking about buying wheels and are on a budget, I recommend that you go purchase these right now, while you still can.

They're better than stock 17's. Bad thing about that though is you'll be wanting 18's and then 19's before too long.

they look puny. nice rim, but small. space them out, maybe that will help, its too " sunk into the fender". just my 2 cents...

Exactly. I'm performance oriented, so 18's are probably as large as I would ever go. However, I'll be attending some drifting practices this year and 17's are a lot cheaper to burn up. I think of these wheels like a crutch. They're way better than the stock 17's in performance and looks, plus I know that I can always sell them for exactly what I paid for them. Now, I can just put money away every month and get something I truly want, instead of settling for a wheel that's just good enough, because I'm tired of stock wheels and this is all I can afford for now.

Anyways, thanks for the compliments guys! I promise I'll post more pictures when I get the spacers.

Good wheels for the track maybe, but I don't see paying money for these over the stockers for the street.

No, they do not look good. The offset is pathetic. would be a good winter wheels, probably not a good track wheel unless you keep stock brakes.

+1

Oem 18's look better than those aftermarket 17's. Doesn't go well with your color, looks like fwd rims, looks like cheaper branded rims. From the pics, they dont look like they would clear any type of bbk even oem.

the offset is a little too much. I think you need spacers.

I have a set of SSR Comp-H (17 x 8.5 , +33 all around) for my winter wheel/tire setup and I must say those SSR's are nice and light. If I had some performance tires on them the car would feel pretty quick in a straight line. Of course there is a lot of flex in a 17" tire sidewall so handling is no good. I think these would make good track wheels if they were more like 9" front and 9.5" rear widths.

No doubt that you got a good deal though! Just don't hit any bumps too hard, I've heard tales of SSR wheels cracking.

Please, check out this link. All of these Z's (and one G35) are running 17 or 18 inch wheels with big brake kits. BTW - the Z that came in first place has 17 inch wheels with Endless 6-pot brakes.

Both of these statements are false. I understand that you are running similar wheels, however you are using winter tires to base your opinion. I use 15" wheels on my RX-7 and my roommate has 13" wheels on his Corolla GT-S.

ugghhh...no. Tire black turns to a glazed white wax when your tires become hot.

I'm sorry that I became so defensive and I want to apologize to all the great people that also gave me postive comments. By starting this thread and posting pictures, I thought that I was contributing to the 350Z community, not setting myself up for a barage of insults. If you truly think they are ugly, then I respect your right to have an opinion. Although I believe that if I had never posted up the size, I would have never received so many negative comments about the how small they look. Unfortunately, I think that performance, one of the major reasons to buy upgraded wheels, has become eclipsed by style.

I agree with everyone else though, for a 350z, this should be a track only wheel.

Yeah I was talking about my winter tires specifically. Sorry, I didn't specify!

I'll jump in and support you, here is my winter setup!

Next winter I'm doing spacers in the rear at least...those babies are tucked.
