Default getting rims for car what offset...

might be a noob question but i went to buy some wheels today and the wheels i liked are in 19x8.5 and 19x10

but they are in either +40mm offset or +24mm offset....

which one would look better, the guy kept on telling me the 40 will and the 24 will rub and not fit but i think it was just to sell me the ones he had in stock.

which ones should i get also are the tires supposed to be 245-35-19 and 275-35-19 or 30

thanks in advance.

i also have the elbach pro kit

24's should be just fine front and back 8.5 front with 10 rear.

^^^ do NOT listen to this guy. Definitely get the +24s or it will look horrible. You will have NO issues with rubbing at all. If you go with a 275/30 then the rear tire will be shorter than the front - so stay with 35 to match your front.

Go with 275/30/19s if you go with 245/35/19s up front

+24mm may stick out slightly/be flush with the fender which will cause rubbing on hard cornering

+30mm is what you want

+40mm may require a spacer because it will rub on the inside of the wheel well

^^^ absolutely wrong!

Do the +24 245/35 and 275/35 - it will work fine with lots of room for more still. I promise. I unlike these others, know what Im talking about...

A 275/305 and 245/35 do NOT have the same sidewall height. The "35" is an aspect ratio of the width "275". Therefore a 275/35 will be taller than a 245/35 which will throw the VDC out of whack.

Exactly! The VDC is looking for a staggered setup - meaning the rear NEEDS to be taller than the front. Check the stock sizes if you dont believe me. Or read the sticky at the top of this forum...

BTW, Im not just some idiot throwing numbers around. I know wheels/tires and I know what their sizing means

I think with that eibach kit and that tire size you are still gonna have a wheel gap so you will not rub!! I have that same tire set up but with my coilovers set as low as they can get and I still dont rub.

You'll hate how the +40 look. That's definitely the wrong offset for the Z.

Oops, its 285s that you should step down to a 30 sidewall for. Thats what im currently running.

245/35/19 and 285/30/19 w/+30mm offset and its perfect. There's no rubbing at all and the wheels are tucked perfectly.

Yes. Although I would prefer it if it was an even lower offset () espcially with an 8.5 up front, but it will look good. Since that is your only option though - it will be good.

agreed.

also, is an 8.5 up front your only option? i think 8.5's in the front look whack on Z's. if youre getting a 10 in the back at least go with a 9 or 9.5 in front.

+1

Go with a 275/35 or 285/35 rear.
