Default Wheel Spacers Safe Limits

What is a safe thickness limit of spacer to buy ..without running out of stud issues ..2003 touring Z coupe, with set of 17" x 8.00" with a 40 offset .... both front and back .. want to bring them out as far as safely possible for looks .. standard wheel offset is somewhere around 33 ??? and is the 40 in millimeters ?? Seems to be plenty of wheel well space to move wheels furter out ... Will appreciate any possitive feedback ..

Usually Id say only to use up to a 5mm spacer max without changing to extended studs. General rule of thumb is to have about 7 full turns of the lugnut to tighten. For the size spacers you will be needing 20-25+ mm (for your sizing, Id actually like to see them a good 40+ mm out) you will definitely need extended studs. Some spacers have new studs built into the spacer, some require the installation of new extended studs. It really just depends on what spacers you go with.

edit: I would personally reccomend a new set of wheels with a more appropriate size/offset if that is an option.

A good set of spacers will come with the appropriate studs. I used H&R 15/20mm spacers on my Track wheels and it looks perfect imo.

Yeah but your rear track wheels would have been 8.5" wide and a 33 offset (fronts are +30, so 10mm different than his). So right there you are already half an inch wider and 7mm further out. Combine that with your 20mm spacer and your talking about 35mm to get to where you were with his current setup. Im sure you could even get away with more easily that is why I suggested 40+mm to be even more flush (he said he wants to bring them as far out as safely possible) - or buy new wheels that wont still be 8" wide...
