Change from Track Rays to TE37's
I've replaced the RE040 with TOYO T1-S.... 245/40-18 f & 255/45-18 r. These are on the stock Rays Track wheels. I have pics on my office computer that I can post tomorrow.
I completely obliterated the RE040s on the track... they just are not made to handle the heat and g-forces at the track (and I'm talking Texas World Speedway, 2.9 miles with 15 turns). I put just a little more than 600 miles on them at two different weekends at TWS.
I will have the TOYOs on the track in three weeks, so I'll be able to give my opinions after that. I expect them to be a lot better than the RE040s.
A 275 section width tire on a 10" wide wheel does look pretty cool. But the Z does not have the power to get that big a wheel/tire moving. For looks, on the street, I'd probably do it. For the track... no way... give me lightweight 17x9s with 255/40 R-compounds all the way around.
Just my $0.02 worth.

That would be cool if you could post those pics of your tires. How do you like that set up 245/40/18F 255/40/18R? Are you happy with it? Dose the tire hang over the rim much? Thanks

I'm pretty happy with the set up right now. I'll reserve further comment until after the track event!
The tires do not hang over the rim very much at all.
This is the best picture I have... sorry, no close ups right now, I'll try to get some more later.
