Default Problem with one of my TPS's

I recently pulled my rear driver's side wheel off to plug a leak. I put the tire back on and the the sensor worked and my air pressure was fine. Now, a few days later, it won't read anything. Low pressure light never came on or beeped. I checked the air pressure manually with a guage and the pressure is fine. Took the wheel back off and remounted it and the sensor only on that wheel is failing to read anything. What gives?

You broke the sensor. Not sure how if it worked briefly after the first remount of the tire and now it's broke.

How did I break it? Are they fragile? Any way of repairing it?

While they are not delicate, they are somewhat fragile. Typically, when dismounting or mounting the tires, if you're not careful you can break the sensor loose from the valve stem. Afterall, that's what mounts it to the wheel.

I doubt there's any way to fix them as they are sealed units. You can pick up a used one pretty cheap in the Marketplace.

Could it possibly be that the battery is dead in this TPS? Take it to the dealer to have them put the magnetic tool over the valve stem to see if it can be activated or if it is dead.

Cool...I never knew there was a battery in those guys but the word dealership, psh. Those guys just think they can rake everyone over the coals. I'll try it. Thanks.

I have aftermarket wheels and my sensors are banded to the wheel. One has come loose twice and banged around inside the wheel ( still worked by the way) . When I first crank my car the sensor fails to register until I have gone about 10 miles, then it will work fine unless I go about 100 miles then it will fail again, showing --- and the low tire icon light in dash. Next time I start it will do the same thing, been that way for couple of years waiting for tire to wear out and will replace. Expalin that!

I can't! You are very lucky. I had a banded TPS come loose from the band and it destroyed itself rolling around loose inside the tire. When I took the tire off, the sensor was in about 4 pieces!
