Stay away from Nitto 555. Almost everyone that has totalled there Z in the wet had these tires on them. They have terrible ratings for wet traction. Go look at the BFG Gforce or the Goodyear GS-D3's.

Falkens are good for a cheap tire, but personally wouldn't buy them myself.

Well I just saw on another forum someone saying those Falkens blow out all the time. So I personally still would not purchase those either. You can get other tires that are cheap and good. Like the BFG Gforce. Or even cheaper and good tires are the: General Excclaims. I highly recommend these! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Exclaim+UHP

I had these on my G35 and they were pretty nice tires.

and the BFG link

18" 7 spoke (2003/2004 optional 2005+ Coupe std)
Front & Rear: 18"x8" +30mm offset

18" 5 split spoke (2005+ Sedan optional)
Front & Rear: 18"x7.5" (+45mm)

19" 5 split spoke (2005+ Coupe optional)
Front: 19"x8" +30mm offset
Rear: 19"x8.5" +33mm offset

Either stock size, or 245/35/19 and 255/40/19 would be the only safe choices

Those Nittos are GARBO! Those Falkens have great reviews.

i am trading my 18s for oem 19s

they have 225/40, 245/40 on them right now, but i was either going to stick with that same tire size or go to 245, 255... but i have a hard time finding the 255 and higher in 40% profiles

Hmm....not sure then. You don't want the VDC to mess you up. I would ask the G35driver guys to see what sizes have worked on those wheels to get a idea.

What you could always do, is go to miata.net and use the tire calculator and put in the stock sizes. Then adjust it up and down till you find sizes that fit under 2% + or - of the stock size. Make sure both are either + or both - when you do it. If you give me a few I can do this for you.

yeah, ive had a post over there for a while but the actively replying folks are a bit less than over here since theres a lot more members in the Z forum... some say i can go 245, 265, while others say 245, 255, then others say stick to stock

hah, so im trying to find more clarification on teh whole matter... my main concern right now is if my car will be too low if i go with 35% profiles vs stock 40%

actually, what ive been using is http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

it has a nice chart of comparable sizes and such... but it doesnt really help me decide which is "safe and recommended" so thats why i was asking around

225/40/19 vs

245/35 shows it being 1.3% to fast compared to stock
255/35 shows it being 0.2% to slow compared to stock (this one looks like a better match imho.

245/40x19 stock vs

255/40 shows it being 1.2% to slow compared to stock
275/35 shows it being 0.5% to fast compared to stock.

Just some ideas...take a look at the link below and play with it. You need java. Just make sure you stay under 2% difference between front and rear.

ahhh i finally understand what they mean when they said +/- 2% difference.. i thought it was the difference between stock front vs new front...

so if i got a set and fronts were 3.5% slower and rears were 3.2% slower, itd be ok since theyre only .3% difference...

bc im having a hard time finding matching brand & size for 245/35 & 255/40... so i was thinking of sticking to stock size, but lower profile...

so, 225/35 & 245/35

Yes you can do that. But going lower profile means more gap and less tire to protect your wheels. Just a thought.

yeah... that is what worries me at the moment... if those general exclaims had 40% profiles, id snag them, but on the site they have only 35, and i did a quick search and only found 35%s for hte most part.. ill be doing more searching later tonight to hopefully find some 225/40, 245/40s

thanks a ton for your help thus far btw
