Default Just picked up...

my first set of wheels for my '06 SS. I ordered a set of Volk SF Winnings in Gunmetal. The specs are 19 inch all round. 9.5 + 17 in the front and 10.5 + 19 in the rear.

I posted a little info on this in my regional forum but I thought I would share here as well because clearly, there are some wheel/tire gurus on this site.

I have been searching this sub-forum and have really only come across one other set of Volks that seem to be close to this set up. I am still trying to figure out tire sizes but I am concerned over brand.

Is anyone in a similar situation or running a similar set up? My Z is my DD, stock height and is tucked away for the winter months. I have about 45-120 days before the wheels arrive as per the sponsor I bought them from and won't mount until winter passes but I am just too psyched not to start searching for tires now.

PS. VOLKS! Now I know what you guys feel like. Haha

sounds good man! congrats!

for front tires...245/35 or 255/35 will work fine and...

for rear tires...275/35 or 285/35 will work...although i run a 275/30 just because i like a little stretch on my tires.

as for tires...i recommend Dunlop! their Sport Maxx line is badass!!!

255/35/19 F and 285/35/19s Rears. With those offsets you'll prob have to roll your rears.

Are you sure the offsets aren't 19 in the front 17 in the rear?

Default Hey...

yes, sure about the offset. Ordered from Rick at Status who assured me I won't rub. He advised he's applied this application to many 350zs without issues. Thanks for the tire recs guys! Now the waiting game! But still psyched

Any suggestions on locks? I am also thinking of upgrading my alarm system just for peace of mind...

Congrats on the SF-Winnings. I'm hesitating between those and the VS-XXs, IMO the best looking wheels for the Z.

Nice plug there wayne...

As for tires, I agree w/ the recommendations. On stock height you shouldn't have any rubbing issues. You're gonna hear it from everyone though, "you need a drop". If you go w/ a narrower tire like a 275 and the stretched look on stock height you will emphasize the wheel gap.

Now for more security for your new wheels. If you're gonna do an alarm you're gonna need one that has a tilt sensor, that will trigger the alarm when your car is tilted w/ a jack. As for wheel locks, I'd go w/ either the Rays lugs that come a "lock" or Project Kics w/ the lock.

Congrats and good luck.

Default Sounds good...

I just want to get something on there that will fit and look generally good. Not worried about dropping or space for now. Just want to get the wheels on and take a look at it. If I have to make adjustments from there I will but don't want to get into rolling.

Thanks for the suggestion on the alarm. It clearly isn't full proof but the added deterrent is helpful. Got the Rays lugs coming as well...

Sorry bud.... unless you have rolled fenders, extreme camber, or running a severly streched tire you are in danger of rubbing

there's no need for an apology. I'm going to make these work.

Just spoke w/ the vendor today. The wheels should arrive at their place by the end of the week. I hope they arrive for x/mas to myself!

Lightbulb *Update*

Just cleared the wheels out of Canadian Customs 21/12/07. Spoke w/ FedEx and as per my tracking info they have assured me a 24/12/07 delivery. Just in time for Christmas…I hope

In terms of tires…I’ve decided on (I think lol) Toyo Proxes T1-R (Front 255/35/19 / Rear 275/35/19)

So, yeah, I think I’ve got everything covered. Wheel brand/model/spec/colour/CHECK. Tire brand/model/spec/type/CHECK. Got the lugs/stems/centre caps.

The only other thing I can think of is finding a shop to get these bad boys on that won’t go at them like a blind woodsman oh, and of course, transferring over my TPMS. I’m aware of the banding method but pretty sure I’ve seen examples of Winnings done with just a straight transfer.

If any GTA guys come across this chime in with a place to get the Toyos & mounting done. I am thinking of heading here. Hopefully someone has had a positive experience.

Ok, I’m out…time for me to do some last minute shopping. I’m not afraid of the mall. I’ve got a list, I’ve got plan…but most importantly I’VE GOT VOLKS. How can four pieces of round metal bring so much joy!?

Well, I don't know if you will have the same results as me due to variations in camber, but FWIW, I have the same wheels in the same sizes and offsets, and the exact same brand tire and sizes, and I don't rub. I'm running Hotchkis springs and didn't have to roll or shave the fenders.

Good luck with your wheels. Great choice by the way. I also got mine from Rick @ Status.

Thumbs up Hey...

thanks...great to hear there is another example of this. I am leaning towards Hotchkis or the Nismo S-tune in the near future.

Nice set up, but you will definitely rub once you lowered the car. Either roll or cut your fenders
