In the last 1,000 miles my front tires are starting to get slight flat spots on the inside edges. They are flat about every 3-4 inches. I'm not sure what is causing it. They are eagle F1 GSD3's with about 15k on them right now. They have always been properly inflated. My only mods suspension wise are koni's with rsr springs and hotchkis sways with endlinks. The alignment is good. Any Ideas?

Thats the way it is.. since, on our cars we have staggered fitments so we cant rotate, and no rotation will cause uneven wear....

No it isn't that. My first set had the typical camber wear from not being able to rotate. This set has it as well, but it is getting flat spots where the camber wear is on the inside edges. The tires still have some life in them, but they are getting very loud now that they are getting flat spots. I would like to fix the problem so I don't mess up a new set of tires in the spring. Is it my suspension?

I'll try to get pictures, but I don't know if it will show it very well.

I have/ had the same problem as of two weeks ago. Had my alignment checked and the toe was waaaay out of wack on both front left and right. I had it corrected. But there's not been enough time to tell if that's the problem or not. From my searching this kind of wear was not discribed. My tires are loud also. Especially when slowing down to a stop. I just hope the bad alignment was the case.

Also on my alignment the SAI (steering angle inclinmation) is off bad. They say it can't be adjusted and that it's due to bend parts, that need to be replaced. But it doesn't state any wear issues with this or if it's that important or not. That the only side effect is a slight pull at very slow speeds. But I don't feel nothing like that at all.

I had the alighnment done about 200 miles after I put the suspension on and they said it was fine. It doesn't pull at all and the struts don't seem to be blown.

You know anything could happen in 200 miles. You stated they said it was good. But did they print you an alignment chart out for your car? In my past history, there's alot of people who take short cuts on car maintance. Don't just take there word for it. Now I've come friends at most shops, so they don't screw me and they let me help or stand there as they make adjustments.

I have the same tires, don't have this problem. Slightly more wear on the insides but nothing out of the ordinary like you are describing.


On a side note though...my rears are very low all around after only 11k miles.....

Great tires but they don't seem to last very long...

god, please know wtf you are talking before spouting information.

1. uneven tire wear is usually due to too much camber or worse a toe alignment issue. you need to get you wheels aligned as so as possible.

2. you can rotate tires its just a pain. you have to have the tires dismounted and and then placed on the other side.

Here are some of the pictures. The strange tread wear is more noticable in the first picture. It is on the inside edge of both sides. The darker patches are what I'm talking about. They are flat spots in the tread. Any ideas? My Koni's only have about 7k on them right now and they don't act like they are blown.

^^ It's difficult to see the wear you describe looking at the pictures you posted. Can you post a "head-on" picture of the tire? ...A picture showing both the inside and outside tread in the same view.

I see the problem. Alternating groups of high and low blocks on the inner edge. Same as my OEM tire above. Thats typical feathering.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Here is a better picture. The low spots are darker in color and "C" shaped on the inside edge of the tread. They are consistently spaced all the way around the tire.

Any ideas to fix it? Winter tires will be going on here in about 1 1/2 months and I would like to fix it so I don't prematurly wear those as well.

Cant tell from your pics but it looks as if you need to change those tires out anyways. At this point since they are so low on the inside I'd get new tires and check that alignment.
