Default Tire Size Advice

I want a little wider look to the back and also want to go with Falken FK452's. I was thinking of replacing the back with 255/45/18, that seems to work well with keeping similar tire height to the stock size. Will it make much of a driving difference keeping the same 225/45/18 in the front?

in all honesty i think i would go a little wider in the front and the back like a 245/40-18 and a 275/40-18. The front in my opinion is under-tired a bit with a 225.

Anyways i don't think you notice a whole lot as long as you don't go crazy on the height of the tire.

I really want to go with the Falken's and the closest sidewall size they have is 255/45/18. What would it drive like with 245/40/18 front and 255/45/18 in the back?

would a 235 or 245 work on the front rim, going from a 225?? or would it rub?

Everything I have read seems that there is no rubbing issues even with a 245 on the front.

I am not sure what you are after? Improved handling? Then no - and additional 10 mm in the rear will gain you little. What will make a difference is tires. There are better choices than Falken FK452.

I am going for looks more so than handling and personally like the looks of the Falkens. I just want to make sure that I don't upset the dynamics of the car by changing the tire sizes.

245/40/18 in front is fine. With your 8.5" rears, 255/45/18 will also work fine, and reduce the understeer a bit and give you more neutral handling. Now, IMO, on your 8.5" rears 265/40/18s will work fine. It's out of manufacturers specs, but it should fit OK. 275/40/18 is too wide however and will give you tire bulge.

are you positive that 245/40/18 (F) & 275/40/18 (R) would fit OEM wheels? I have my car just lowered on tanabe springs gf210. any help is very appreciated!

btw: I have the base model, no worries with TCS/VDC...

235/40/18 front
255/40/18 rear
this would be your ideal OEM plus sizing (+0).
255/45/18 rear could work since the rim is 8.5 which is listed as measured rim in the sizing chart. A little bigger is a lot better than a little smaller tire.

Yeah, tell me about it. This is why Im having such a hard time finding a wheel and tire combo that will work with the wheel selection Im interested in. Too many factors including wheel size/width/offset, tire brand/sizing, dropped suspension, etc...

how about this... 245/40/18 (F) / 255/45/18 (R) ?
I was doing some numbers here and they seem to be in the same range.

I'm using Falken Azenis RT-615 in 245/40R18 front and 255/40R18 rear on four 9.5 inch wide wheels. It's an excellent combination that handles very well and is within 0.5% of my stock tires diameter.

By the way, 225/45R18 would be perfectly acceptable as a front tire size. It all comes down to personal preference.
