Default tpms question

recently switched over from my stock 2005 17" rims to the 2006 18" rims. The previous owner left the tpms in the rims, but it's still showing dashes on the tire pressure gauge like it's not detecting the pressure. Do I have to switch over my sensors from my 17" wheels or can I make the sensors work on the 2006 18" wheels?

You have to go to the dealer and have them program the sensors to work with your dash guage. Cost me $50 to get this done and 2 trips to the stealership.
