Default wheel offset voids warranty

Hi all! After a year running with aftermarket wheels (volks GTS 19x9.5 19x10.5 offset 17/18) i started to have problems with ABS and rear wheel sensor. After applying the brake I hear a humming sound and the ABS starts to kick in (ABS light did not come on). the humming sound comes on after tapping the brake at 5mph and remains on until 30mph. if brakes were applied well the ABS starts to trigger erratically. i brought the Z to the dealer with the tires and wheels. after an hour they told me that the aftermarket wheels are the cause of the malfunction. they told me put back the OEM tires and wheel and they will check on it again. so, i put back the OEM tires and wheel and they started to work on it for three hours later they told me that the rear left axel sensor is off by 3/8" which is cause by the big offset of aftermarket wheels which pulled the axel out. i just couldn't figure this out how the big offset on the aftermarket wheel can pull the axel out. laterl they told me that the next time that comes back surely they wil know if i placed back the volk GTS and this will void the warranty. can anybody help me clarify this matter or did anybody have the same experience. i wanted to bring back my volk GTS. Thank you for your time and will appreciate any help.

Sounds like dealer BS. Take it somewhere else.

I think they're pulling your chains. I don't see how this could do damage unless you physically touched the sensor somehow. I'm waiting for the experts to chime in but I'm putting up the BS flag for the stealership.

thank you for guys the replies. actually, the Z works fine after the dealer worked on it without charging me anything and they too were friendly. the only thing is that i couldnt put back my aftermarket wheels since they stated that it will void the warranty. any experts here? thanks

Wide wheels with an extreme offset do have a adverse effects on suspension components such as wheel bearings and brakes, and performance such as stopping distance. Think about what you have done. You have suspended a 50 pound weight (wheel and tire) 20, 30 or 40 mm farther than the OEM wheel. Of course it will stress the suspension.

On the other hand, I don't see a relationship with ABS. ABS prevent locking the brakes. Regardless of wheel size or offset. Not sure what “pulling the axle out” means. Addition wear and tear on the axle because of big wheels and offset? Sure. Its a judgement call.
