Default Winter Wheels and Tires - Again

I have used the search function......

I'm looking for wheels and tires to bolt on my 2006 350Z Enthusiast for the winter and change back myself when it looks like the snows are over.

I pretty much have decided on Bridgetone Blizzak LM-22s F-225/50-17 and R-225/55-17. If I'm off base here, please comment.

I don't want to spend a lot on the wheels since they will only be for a few months out of the year and it won't hurt me too bad if they don't look that great. I'm looking for recommendations on vendors and specific wheels - brand and model.

I think I will go with 17x7s. Am I correct that the bolt hole spec is 5-100 to 5-114.3?

Any help would be appreciated. Winter is pretty close.......

All of your selections/choices are correct. You've done the research. Just do it.

Thanks Spike. I'm just looking for recommendations on reasonably priced wheels. Brand, model # and vendor. Any opinions?

The safest purchase (as to what fits) and the best buys are right here… on the Forum:

Marketplace>Classified>Private Classified>Wheels Tires

Here is where you can buy OEM wheels that you know are quality and will fit your car. The big problem buying here is that many sellers are lazy and don’t want to package the wheels for shipping.

EDIT: Don't buy from a seller who isn't willing to ship the product. If someone is so indifferent to a sale, they don't care enough to be a real seller. You don't want to deal with this type of seller.

I just thought I would report on my experience. I bought the wheels and tires from the Tire Rack and they came in in less than a week. They didn't have the sizes in stock on the Blizzaks, so I went with the Dunlop M3s mounted and balanced by them. They make a HUGE difference in snow. We got 7" of snow and I didn't have any trouble getting around. It was nice to be able to do so after listening to people talking about how "that type of car" (350Z) won't go in the snow. I kept hearing that I just as well park it for the winter. It's great to prove them wrong! With the above sizes, I do have an error of 5 - 6 MPH error on the speedo at highway speeds (indicates too high) and have to keep the TCS turned off. No big deal. Thanks for the help Spike!

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear the snow tires are working so well. We also got a lot of snow here in Frostbite Falls last week; and as you report, I was able to safely drive the Z equipped with snow tires.

I also mounted the Dunlop model you are using (I was driving on Blizzaks during the winter before this year). I’m not sure which I prefer. The Blizzak’s tread design clears snow better (the Dunlop tends to accumulate “sticky” snow in the tread and slips more than the Blizzak). But, the Dunlops handle better (at least on the Z), providing a more stable/directional drive (i.e., the Dunlops are less “wiggly” on dry pavement than the Blizzaks).

Your comment: “I do have an error of 5 - 6 MPH error on the speedo at highway speeds (indicates too high)”…tells me you went with all square sizes (225/50-17” all around). Is that correct?

I’m running Dunlops with all square sizes (225/55-17” all around), and my speedo is accurate (tested against my GPS).
