I believe that the 10" will fit the 275 better, and relieve his rubbing issues. His wheels sit in the fender just like your wheels with the 30mm on the 10.

And no rubbing, even with 3mm spacers making them +27

Actually the 9" with +18 tucks in 1MM over the 10" +30. All that said, that doesn't make +30 an absolute. What is Andy lowers the car? What then? Rubbing again. You two should should put a little more thought into this to ensure that the wheels meet his long-term plans.

Default Update!

I have now exchanged emails with and talked by phone to Vince today.

First, I want to thank him for taking time to educate me on how offsets work. I was more than a little confused on this and he took his time to make sure I understood how things add up.

All things equal, it is just a poor match of tire and wheel I have. The offset is correct. I realize it is different from other manufacturers' offsets and I'm not going to expound on why that can be here. The offset is not the cause of the rubbing. It is the combo of offset, wheel width and the tire size. With a different tire (255/40 on the back maybe) all would probably be good right now.

What I was failing to see earlier was, like any good composition, one component should not be blamed when you should really be looking at how everything works together.

As it is, Vince and I have worked out something to widen the rear wheels to accomodate the 275/40s better and eliminate the wheel rub.

With the exception of the initial long wait on the wheels, I'm becoming more impressed with iForged's customer service. Vince was very understanding of what it is I want when I talked to him today and we worked out a solution that I find acceptable and, I hope, he does too. Based on recent events, I'd have to raise my review of customer service grade from a C- to a solid B... and if the wheels get corrected and back to me in the time Vince has quoted, I will bring that up to an A.

Hell... if everything is good in the end, I might be bugging Vince for an iForged logo sticker to put in my portal window!

droideka...

You make a good point, but I have no plans for lowering the car. Vince and I did discuss that early on. I'm not a big fan of it and will just leave my car at stock height.

May get sport tuned suspension in the future, tho!

BTW... thank you to everyone for your comments. Sometimes we have to learn the hard way!

Here's how Max reacted when I broke the news to him that we would have to wait a little longer because of the tire size debacle...

OK. You say that now, but you never know. Look at me. I bought the Touring because, "I'll never track the car..." and look who bought StopTechs.

Even the S-Tune will drop the car 20MM. Just be sure...

I am really very relieved after having read thru this thread...a relatively happy iForged ending. I got in on the last day of the 2nd group buy and I wring my hands every time someone starts up with all the iForged problemos. As Martha used to say.."This is a good thing". Now, back to work so I can pay for this stuff.

WP... I guess it really has to do with what your expecations are.

For the price, the iForged wheels are a bargain... and contrary to what some have posted, I've actually found that they are easy to contact, deal with, and are very accomodating of what it is I want on my car.

The big thing you are sacrificing by going to them seems to be prompt delivery. For whatever reasons, they are a little slower than other custom wheel manufacturers. If you are okay with that, you'll be fine.

I have finally received my wheels, mounted them, and now returned the rears to be adjusted to meet my needs. So, I'm now waiting again, but having seen them on the car, I know they are well worth the wait. Besides... I still have some good tread to burn off my stock wheels yet!

Default my iForged thread... back from the dead!

Just wanted to post an updated...

Not recanning my entire review... it's on page 1 of this thread.

Got my rear iForged Senekas back last week. They still look good as hell! Got the 275/40/18s remounted and there is zero rubbing as Vince explained when I first talked to him about the problem. Wheels were shipped, worked on, and shipped back in a total time of about 4 weeks. Considering half that time was shipment there and back, not too bad on the turnaround.

Though there have been posts of others being disastisfied with their iForged experience, I am still very happy with the wheels. Biggest issue I've had to date was the long initial delivery time.

This is in referenece to having a rubbing issue in the post above.

Just to clarify how different wheel manufactures deal with issues. HRE will do anything you want but what they like to do is for you to come to a decision on your tire size (for me, that was 295 rears, 265 fts) and if you are going to upgrade brakes, and then they take care of offsets, etc. They 100% back their fitment thous if you have rubbing problems, poor looking offsets etc, they will take care of it. Every job is custom to them thus this is part of what you are paying for.

I have seen Iforged wheels and thought they looked great. I am not trying to make avalue judgement how what is a better deal. some of you want to pay less and that is fine. As you know most wheels such as Rays and volks are good. HRE offers something for people that others do not. Yes, I paid $3600 for my wheels so it is an expensive wheel.

You do not need to make an issue over if HRE's are worth it of if you like them. My goal was to give light to thouse that have not selected a wheel to see pros and cons. All wheels are good considering you are getting the look, wt, quality, customer serivice you want at the price you like....

My experience is that this is how iForged operates as well. When I ordered my wheels, I was not sure what offsets I wanted. Vince asked me several questions to determine what they should be (including the following):
  • What size tires would I be mounting?
  • How much of a lip did I want?
  • Was I going to lower the car?
  • What kind of brakes do I have and/or did I plan to upgrade to larger brakes?

There were other questions, but I clearly recall those. My problem arose because I told Vince that I would be running front/rear sizes of 235 and 255. After placing the wheel order and seeing posts on this forum, I decided to move up to 245s and 275s (hey... the Bridgestone specs say they'd fit the same size wheel as the others!).

Anyway, basically, I had bought tires too wide for what the rims were designed to handle clearance wise on my car. Please note... I screwed up in this aspect, not iForged. Vince had me send back the wheels, which were widened to accomodate the fatter rubber at iForgeds expense. I think that is pretty good customer service!

Since getting them back on my car, I have had zero problems with the wheels rubbing and, believe me, I tried really hard to make them do so.

On a different note, when I had the tires put on the rear wheels last week, the guy at the mounting shop said they were clearly very nice wheels. He said the quality appearance-wise was on par with some of the best manufacturers they carry and pointed out that he did not have to use any balancing weights to balance the tires... all that's there is the iForged rim and the Bridgestone rubber... nothing else to get them to roll smooth. Not sure how others feel, but I'm very impressed by that. I've never had a wheel on any of my cars before that did not require some kind of balancing weights.

Default Beautiful!

The Senekas look flat out awesome. I've been trying to decide between them and various 5 spoke models. My wife points out that mesh wheels would be a pain in the butt to keep clean. Any opinions on that? Do you spend significantly more time on them than you did with the stock 6 spokes?

Wow. I am impressed your wheels and tires did not need weights to balance them! I am also happy to hear the customer service by Vince appears to be improving. A lot of people seem frustrated that this topic if Iforge keeps coming up but I would like to think that this forums discussions might have been a part of why Vince has improved his service.

When I decided to get HRE's, it was because of all the posts that stated problems with Iforged thus scaring me away. Now, it seems to have improved. There is no doubt Iforge makes some beautiful looking wheels so maybe all of the bitching will benifit future Z owners?

I also believe iForged is working on improving their customer service, but I can only speak from my experience which has been pretty good.

My wife points out that mesh wheels would be a pain in the butt to keep clean. Any opinions on that? Do you spend significantly more time on them than you did with the stock 6 spokes?
Yes, I spend significantly more time cleaning the mesh wheels... not because of the mest design really, but because of the bolts around the outside of the rim. I'd say it takes me a little more than twice the time it used to take with the factory 6-spoke wheels.

Oh, and here's a teaser of how the car looks now with the wheels AND the nismo kit on...
