Pressure Sensor Question?
This is the situation, hopefully pretty soon i am getting the 350z most likely the "Touring" version. However i am getting the automatic & therefore unfortunetly i will be stuck with them ugly looking 17inch wheels.
But, then again as soon as i get the car, my 1st mods will be to remove those 17's and either upgrade to 18 inch Z wheels, cause i did saw them on the classified section for sale, or perhaps i will just go with 19's light weight rims. Either way, i need to know,is this is necessary to have the tire sensor even if i go with aftermarket wheel. I mean let's just say, i upgrade to 18inch Z wheel without the tire sensor, then what can happen.

ahhh... strange question. But I will give you what I got :
A) You don't have to HAVE the tire sensors, if by that you mean the sending units for tire pressure. End result : you won't get a signal on the display inside.
B) Don't throw them away! They are worth $250 each!! Worst case, sell them with the rims or separate.
C) You can have the sensors mounted on your new rims. A quick trip to the dealer to re-program them and you won't loose functionality. They should fit most rims. Make sure the shop taking them off is carefull with them.
I hope this answers your question...

I know there will be doubters, so me and my boredom got the proof.
we know enthusiast and base dont have it, so the fact that they are manuals is mute. but touring auto... nope.
just another reason why it cost about 2000 more to get a manual transmission.
Tire Air Pressure Monitor (Display located in Drive Computer) (with 6-Speed Manual Transmission only)

Thank you very much guys, for your responce. But, damn $250 for each tire pressure sensor. Well, in that case i better get use to shifting those gears, and learn it quick. Looks like i will be getting a 6speed Touring.
just another bloated OEM price. you can get a whole set with standalone reciever and monitor to tell you for about 400, but its not all nicely integrated, but still, the monitors dont cost 250 a peice, not in real life, only from nissan.
problem is, who needs em? if you can use them, you already have them. maybe if you want to put them into a second set of rims, but thats about all you can do with them, making selling them(particularly for prices that cost more than some rims) a bit difficult.
