when I was robbed two years ago I just submitted photos in place of the products that I didnt have receipts for. It was good enough for them. They might be little more insistant for a reciept though considering the price. I wouldnt worry too much though, you'll get them back one way or the other

I'm posting the complete opposite with my experience. In 03 my 00 civic si got stolen and an online bank statement with the company name + purchase price wasn't enough for them. I got screwed out of the 900'ish I spent on the wheels.

well, laws vary from state to state. the law here is that if it's permanently affixed or bolted to the car, it is covered. Whereas, say in TX, my carrier USAA requires additional show car coverage to cover these items. I was told I needed this coverage for wheels or stereo, until they pulled my account to add it and was told, "oh, youre in luck, in your state, by law, we have to cover anything that's installed" Alittle late in this case, but if you throw 3-4K worth of wheels on your car, its a good idea to call and make sure you are covered.

in the case of the civic, that's alittle different. OEM replacement works for us because Nissan asks so much for their wheels.

Not that it helps you now, but every car I have ever had, I have made a folder for that I keep receipts for aftermarket parts and other replacement parts such as alternators and a/c compressors.

Why not just tell the insurance company that you can't find the receipt and ask if there is other proof that you could provide them?

yeah.well i checked my email...no luck...checked with the company which was SpecTuned(i believe i spoke to Phil) but i'm not sure if they're in business anymore, the number is no longer in service so i'm not sure in that situation either..I did contact my banking company and they said they can send me a receipt via email of where i made the purchase and for how much and what item, so hopefully that'll be enough to show the ins company along with a ton of pictures of the rims on my car...

Also, the wheels weren't on my car when they were stolen..so it's not technically going through my car insurance, it'll be through my business under home owners thankfully it's a better company than my car ins.

Also, any suggestions on which wheels to get with the $?
I had the MS Volk GT-S 19" but i'm not sure if i want to get the same ones...(unless they make me)

Some people are able to buy Volks when their OEMs are stolen. haha.. Point being, the worst case scenario actually pays the same or higher.
Ummmmmmmm...700x4=2800 + 200x4=800. Total=$3600 so you would be better off

Hrm, well i'll take a look what the ins company says tonight.
If i can get a quote from a Volk distributor for about the same price with wheels/tires then i'll do that.

you may not have to get the exact same thing, the only thing I was restricted to when i was robbed was that i had to replace my laptop with a computer. so I had to spend that 1600 on a computer or else I didnt get it, but then I got a check for 3000 or so for my other stuff that was basically just money to do with as I wanted

buy rims from a vendor here but have him put down no date or rim brand/model on the receipt, you can mail that in to the insurance place,

well the receipt shouldnt be a problem, the insurance company said all i needed was a few pictures of proof that i had them on my car, and a bank statement along with the companies website where i purchased them from...(even though they're out of business, lol)

anyone heard of SpecTuned?

thats what I was saying. People find that the payout for OEM is higher than Volks. Especially if you have any of the forged OEMs and we all know what Nissan wants for their OEM 19 tires

The insurance company is going by policy, not by the cheaper payout. They *think* they are going to pay less, but they end up paying out more. On many makes/models, thats probably true. Volks on a Hyundai probably dont work like this

So i know this thread was old but i figured i'd put a last post up.
Yes my Volks were stolen, and sadly i was about to buy a set of 19" Axis Shines hence the price and i'm very limited at the moment..but thanks to l-con1 i actually just bought an almost brand new set of Volk GTS Gunmetal tonight =) so i'm pretty happy to say i have my rims back with better tires!
