Default Tire Weight?

I know about wheelweights.net

Does anyone know if there is a similar site for tire weight?

TireRack has them listed. Just click on the "specs" of a tire. Edge Racing does too.

Or just go to the manufacturers website.

Yep... I like how almost no one thinks about this. They drop bank on a set of TE or LE or RE volks and then throw some cheap, crappy, lead-weight bands of rubber on them.

It's funny you mentioned that the cheap brands are heavy. The opposite is usually true. The heavier tires have stiffer sidewalls and generally wear a bit better. Bridgestones and BFG's are known for being heavy and they both are far from cheap.

Why not just go to one site that has them all?

exactly! That’s what I'm looking for. I'll look at tire rack again (but they of course it's limited to what they carry)...

I haven’t tried Edge – thanks Arnold K for that tip

No problem. Edge Racing carries a number of brands that Tire Rack doesn't.

That is so, so true. Far too prevalent.

True again, but I don't think that was in the spirit of what he was saying.

We just weighted some 315/35 x 17 Kumho 710's made for a corvette and they weighted 30#'s each.

ordered Toyo T1R 245/40/19 = 26lbs... they were the lightest I could find without doing boatloads (more) research... wrapping them around CE28Ns @ 18.1 lbs (44.1)... interestingly, this combo is almost identical to the weight 18's would have been (245/45/18 = 43.81 w/wheels)... I'm not all that thrilled though because I'm not saving much weight from the OEM 17s I'm running... oh well, I guess it will look good (which I've never cared that much about until recently).

Thanks for the comments and site referrals… much appreciated

I thought about that after I posted. The PS2 tires I want are relatively light and that was compared to the Bridgestones - but the bridgestones are not crappy.

I just see EVERYONE asking what a wheel weighs, but not many people asking what a tire weighs.

Not a huge fan of T1Rs, but they are really light. People spend lots of money on forged wheels to save weight when you can shed a couple pounds with via tire choice. Bridgestones are super heavy, but yet some of my favorite tires.

225/40/18 Nitto 555 are 23.4lbs and 265/35/18 Nitto 555 are 27.6lbs per tire. Just weighed them, not bad but surprisingly BFG KDW2's are still lighter, I will confirm that when possible.
