Default What to choose?

im between a few tires right now. im getting in to auto X and going to start tracking the Z so i wanted to get some tires that had some good grip but wouldnt put a whole in my wallet. the wheels are 17x9 +22 all around and tire size is 275/40. the tires im between are the avon tech m500 ($81), the sumitomo htr z3(120/installed) or the general uhp (115). im not looking to spend a lot of money so im trying to choose the best of these 3. all were rated pretty high in dry cornering and traction from tire rack. your help is appreciated.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/CompareTires.jsp?removeIndex=1|74WR7HTRZ2&width=275/&ratio=40&diameter=17

for some reason i cant link it. copy paste old gangster way

You are going about this the wrong way. You put 9 inch wheels on the car so you can put more rubber on the road, then you pick crummy tires. There is no way to get around the relationship between performance and dollars.

Before buying tires check these test results:https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ighlight=tires.

i want and alright tire to practice on and later jumping into a higher quality tire. i know these arent the best handling tires available but they were rated in the 8.0 and up from tire rack in dry handling. once i step up into timed auto X competition then i will buy a highend tire. these are just for practice. rubber that can be wasted away and i dont have to worry about cracking my bank. oh yeah, these will be used on the street as well.

That's cool. I autocross on Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season. Not the greatest tires but no big deal. You just learn what the tires can and cannot do.

How about something like the Kumho SPT? 118 each at Tirerack. Decent summer tire and good in the wet.

I agree with adrenaline_rush. If your budget is tight look at Kumho Ecsta SPT.

the kumho spt isnt rated as highly in grip compared to the others at that price point. im not so worried about wet handing because its half way through feb now and in socal that means not much more rain. and even when it does rain here its very little. im probably gonna be getting the sumitomos. but if anybody knows about the avons please let me know.
