Default Looking for Toyo Proxes R1R? Look here.

Toyo just started releasing the new R1R. We have all of the current sizes in stock except for 170150 & 170050, and we should have those in stock soon. PM me for a quote. They will be up on our site by the end of the day.

How do these compare to the Toyo R888? What purpose is each tire better suited to?

The R888 is more of a dedicated track tire. The R1R sits in between the RA1/R888 and T1R in the toyo product lineup. So basically, better performance than the T1R and longer treadwear than a RA1 or R888.

...might be looking at these when the KDW's wear out....i've been looking for something a LITTLE less gummy than the RA1's but that perform a hell of a lot better than the T1R's...interesting.

be tough to pick between these, the RE01R's and the Azenis...I wana see some independent tests!

I wonder why Toyo chose to go with such a narrow (no pun) width assortment. No plans for anything wider than 275? And even those are in 17"!!! Very amusing to say the least...

I hear ya on that. I sometimes wonder what they are thinking. They spend a bunch of $ sponsoring and winning the formula drift championship with a 350Z running R1Rs, you think it would be common sense to at least release the OE sizes for that vehicle.

Tanner Foust and Toyo Tires™ Win the 2007 Formula Drift® Championship

October 16, 2007– IRWINDALE, CALIFORNIA – Tanner Foust, driver of the AEM/Memphis Car Audio/Toyo Tires™ Nissan 350Z riding on Toyo® Proxes® R1R™ tires, was crowned the 2007 Formula Drift® champion this past weekend during the Formula Drift Championship Finals at Irwindale Speedway in California. Leading the championship by 23-points and only having to finish in third place or better, Foust put an exclamation point on his championship by winning the final event overall.

Irwindale Speedway is known as “The House of Drift” and draws capacity crowds for the annual finals. Foust climbed the ladder during the final rounds by first defeating Tony Brakahopia in the Top 16. During the Top 8, Foust defeated Ryuji Miki, and then moved on to the Top 4 to defeat Kenji Yamanaka. In the Final, Foust defeated number two ranked Chris Forsberg for both the event win and the 2007 championship.

“With the level of competition going through the roof during the 2007 Formula D season, the only way we could compete and have the chance of winning was to use the best tires with the highest level of grip, Toyo’s Proxes R1R,” said Foust. “During last weekend’s event, we achieved the highest top speed of the weekend by six-mph over the next fastest car.”

For some reason, all the tires in this segment have very limited size selection.

Sorry, never had 19s or 20s -- 17s & 18s for track.

I was also referring to the R1Rs competitors. The likes of the Advan Neova AD07s and a few others don't offer 19s either. The RE-01Rs are on the same level, but I think they offer 19s in very limited sizes.
